Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address both parts of the prompt, discussing why businesses emphasise new products and whether this is a positive or negative development. However, the ideas are often repetitive, underdeveloped, and lack specific elaboration. For example, the explanation of why businesses promote new products relies heavily on vague statements such as 'Some businessman expand our business through new things in the market.' Furthermore, the position is not consistently maintained throughout the essay. The second body paragraph mixes points about both positive and negative aspects rather than clearly separating them, leading to a somewhat confused argument. While the prompt is addressed on a surface level, the lack of fully extended ideas and occasional loss of focus align this response with a Band 5 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, but overall organisation and progression are weak. Paragraphing is attempted, but ideas within the paragraphs lack a clear logical flow. For instance, the second paragraph jumps abruptly between why customers buy new products and an example about online shopping, making it hard to follow the line of thought. Cohesive devices are used very simply and sometimes inaccurately, such as repetitive transitions like 'Many customers usually' and 'Many customers will.' Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in the pronoun shifts ('our business', 'your product will be waste'). These issues reflect a Band 5 level of coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, which restricts the depth of the argument. Words such as 'product', 'business', 'businessman', and 'market' are overused throughout the text. There are also several noticeable word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'Many businessman run the business' (instead of 'businesspeople run their businesses') and 'customers will facinate about the new product' (instead of 'fascination' or 'fascinated by'). Informal and ungrammatical expressions like 'she will be buy the product' further demonstrate a restricted lexical range and inaccurate word formation. Because the vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task but contains frequent errors, a Band 5 is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures. The majority of sentences are simple or poorly constructed compound sentences, and attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are persistent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('a women cannot go', 'product does not like product'), tense inconsistencies ('if u create a new product launched'), and incorrect auxiliary verb usage ('she will be buy'). Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also weak, leading to run-on thoughts. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from reaching a higher band, placing it firmly at a Band 4.5 or rounded to 5.0 descriptors.
