Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing why businesses emphasise that their products are new and giving an opinion on whether this is a positive or negative development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the writer mentions that advertising creates jobs (e.g., 'model, vedio editor, camera person') and introduces new products, but the explanation lacks depth. On the negative side, the writer discusses deceptive quality claims by local ice-cream companies, but the argument remains superficial. The position is stated in the introduction, but the overall progression of ideas feels somewhat restricted and under-developed, aligning best with a Band 5.5 or Band 6.0 descriptor. Overall, it addresses the prompt adequately but needs fuller elaboration of examples and arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, with an introduction and distinct body paragraphs for positive and negative views. However, overall progression is limited by awkward transitions and poor logical sequencing. For example, the phrase 'According to the phenomenon' is used inappropriately to introduce personal views. Cohesive devices are used mechanically or inaccurately, such as 'Despite this argument' when introducing positive points, which misaligns with logical flow. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is weak due to repetitive phrasing and abrupt shifts between ideas. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the line of argument at times. This profile fits the Band 5.0 descriptor well, as cohesive devices and logical progression require significant improvement.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling errors ('busniess', 'industrilize', 'vedio', 'adverisment', 'mantain', 'hizenin', 'smothly') that occasionally impede communication. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items such as 'unemployment problem' and 'hesitation and confussion', but these are hindered by inaccurate word forms and spelling mistakes. There is also heavy reliance on simple words like 'good', 'bad', 'money', and 'products'. While the range is minimally adequate to convey the basic message, the high frequency of lexical and spelling inaccuracies prevents the writing from achieving a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and basic compound forms. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty or disjointed, such as in the sentence 'They use new model and new story that's why people show their interested and bought this product.' There are pervasive grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles (e.g., 'company they always pretend'), subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'positive development are rised'), and tense inconsistencies. These errors are frequent and often cause difficulty for the reader, matching the core descriptors for Band 4.5 to 5.0. A score of 5.0 reflects the presence of some correct simple structures alongside persistent, heavy grammatical inaccuracies.
