Student answer (Band 5.0)
In advertising, nowadays businesses usually highlight that their products are unique in some way, because they want to gain attention of people, so that there brand become popular. In my views, it is a negative development because people purchase a product on some hope after watching a advertisement. Many of the products are not worth buying, because they do not fulfill the specifications that they show in advertisement and of price difference.
Firstly, businesses use advertising to gain popularity, but there product will not fulfill the specs shown in advertisement. This is a negative development. For example, people buy a product after watching a advertisement, but the product do not meet the standards and become trash or useless after a year. It lower the believes of people
from advertisements and the original products also get the impact.
Secondly, purchasing a product that is not reliable and become useless after short time waste a lot of money people and it also effects the country economy, because money circulates in some businesses rather than in whole country. For example, if people buy a electric bike after watching a advertisement in which they show that it saves fuel cost, but after a year of purchase the bike battery needs to change which is way more expensive than fuel, than it waste a lot of money. Many peoples will not install new battery because of its heavy price so the bike become a trash. If some people purchase new battery it costs them very high, then again economy get collapsed because of money circulation in some hands.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why businesses emphasise newness in advertising (to gain attention and popularity) and whether this is a positive or negative development (viewed as negative). The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the first body paragraph mentions that products 'become trash or useless after a year', and the second body paragraph repeats this exact concept using an electric bike example. While the prompt is answered, the supporting arguments lack variety and depth, placing this response comfortably at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text is organized into paragraphs with basic cohesive markers such as 'Firstly' and 'Secondly'. However, the logical progression is hindered by repetitive explanations and weak referencing. Phrases like 'it lower the believes of people' and 'so the bike become a trash' disrupt the flow and logical connection between sentences. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs is mechanical and sometimes faulty, which is characteristic of Band 5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and repetitive, with frequent reliance on basic words and phrases such as 'products', 'advertisement', 'money', and 'trash'. There are also noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'gain attention of people', 'so that there brand', and 'heavy price' instead of high price. These errors and the restricted vocabulary range constrain the response to a Band 5.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but these attempts are frequently faulty. There are multiple grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the essay, including subject-verb agreement issues ('there product will not fulfill', 'the product do not meet', 'it lower the believes'), pronoun confusion ('there brand'), and awkward phrasing ('waste a lot of money people'). These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, aligning with the Band 5 descriptor.
