Student answer (Band 5.0)
These days, there is an ongoing dabate between people about buisness advertisement, buisnesses try to make their things look very flashy inthe ads. While it is possible to claim that they want people all across the world to know about their product and buy it. In my opinion, I partially agree with this kind of idea. I shall explain my point of view in this essay by analyzing the argument in various perspective.
One of the most frequently sighted argument in the favour of buisness ads is that it encourages buisnesses to inovate. Furthermore, it gives customers better and more advance products. Moreover, it also creates compitition between companies. Last but not the least it can also improve technology and convinience.
Those who argue have a different view, according to them these ads encourages people to buy the things that they do not need. Secondly, it can also increase waste and environmental problems. Thirdly, Advertising may exaggerate how different aproduct really is. Lastly, people may spend money unnecessarily on these things.
To conclude, I coincide that buisness advertising is an integral part in the development of our society and how it affects our daily life. I would strongly recommend that the company must advertise that thing that is most needing thing among people instead of the things our society does not need. Government should take steps like regulating the misleading advertising, promote sustainable production and impose taxes on them for every advertisement they want to make to reduce its negative effects

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The candidate addresses both parts of the prompt: why businesses emphasise that their products are new, and whether this is a positive or negative development. A position is presented, stating 'I partially agree', and main ideas are outlined. However, the development of these ideas is very limited and superficial. For instance, the reasons why businesses advertise innovation are listed in single-word phrases or short bullet-like clauses in the second paragraph ('inovate', 'better and more advance products', 'compitition', 'convinience'), without adequate explanation or specific examples from the student's knowledge. Similarly, the negative aspects are simply listed. While all parts of the task are touched upon, the lack of extension and support keeps the response at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays some overall organisation, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing opposing views, and a conclusion. However, progression is frequently hampered by poor paragraph structuring and mechanical cohesive devices. For example, the second paragraph consists of a rapid-fire sequence of short, disconnected statements linked by basic transitions ('Furthermore', 'Moreover', 'Last but not the least'). Paragraphing is somewhat arbitrary, with the introduction split awkwardly across sentences. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the concluding sentence where pronouns and demonstratives ('that thing that is most needing thing') become muddled. Overall, cohesion is inadequate and repetitive, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by severe spelling errors. Throughout the text, common words are misspelled multiple times, such as 'dabate' (debate), 'buisness' and 'buisnesses' (business/businesses), 'inovate' (innovate), 'advance' (advanced), 'compitition' (competition), 'convinience' (convenience), and 'aproduct' (a product). The range of vocabulary is limited to simple terms, and attempts at less common phrasing lead to unnatural collocations or word-form errors (e.g., 'most needing thing'). These noticeable errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader, placing this performance firmly at Band 4.5, which rounds to 5.0 based on standard half-band increments.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent errors that impede readability and sometimes distort meaning. Examples include subject-verb agreement errors ('ads encourages', 'company must advertise that thing that is most needing thing'), fragments ('While it is possible to claim that they want people all across the world to know about their product and buy it.'), and awkward phrasing ('I coincide that buisness advertising is an integral part'). Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and missing terminal punctuation in places. The frequency of grammatical errors across both simple and complex structures aligns with Band 4.5, leading to a score of 5.0.
