Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the present era, many manufacturing companies are creating the replica of there old products by adding some new features and changing the structure. Their main purpose is to launch new products, improve their quality, solve existing problems and to compete against each other.
In contemporary society, a majority a people are buying many basic necessities things in their lives such as car, and mobile phones. Companies are implementing new strategies to remain sustain in the global market. For instance, companies like Apple, Hyundai, and other related fields are changing the designs of their existing models, because the old versions are outdated and need to remain competitive against the rival firms. Recently, apple has launced a new iphone, which is 18pro as a replacement of 17 pro with some new features like macro lens camera, the fastest processor system ios 28. And other model which is iphone duo, which is the copy of samsung z fold concept, because they see that sales of these fold models are increasing day by day and people are loving these type of devices very much as compared to vertical one, they can use it as a tablet also.
On the other hand, these are some drawbacks of this development, because some times they just add the new specifications, which are not necessary, and with the addition of new upgrades they also increase the price of their products, which middle class family could not able to afford it. For example, in automobile industry companies are focusing on creating electric vehicles as compared to petrol and diesel, like mahindra has recently launched there two new models BE6 and EV9 which are the same but they just only change the interior and exterior of the car. Although, it is understandable that some items are useful but not all.
In conclusion, i think it totally depends on ones own perspectives but due to this new development the price of the products increase and also to follow new trends many youngsters buy new phones and waster their money.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring why businesses emphasise new products and offering an opinion on whether this development is positive or negative. The introduction touches upon purposes such as improving quality and solving problems, while the body paragraphs discuss market competition and consumer trends, such as the example of Apple and Samsung. However, the development of ideas tends to be slightly disjointed and overly reliant on specific product anecdotes rather than broader conceptual arguments. The position is stated in the conclusion rather than being clearly maintained throughout. This performance aligns best with Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraph divisions for introduction, body points, and conclusion. However, cohesion at the sentence level is occasionally faulty or mechanical. For instance, the transition 'On the other hand, these are some drawbacks' contains a referencing error ('these are' instead of 'there are'), and sentences within paragraphs sometimes rely on weak conjunctions. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical progression within body paragraphs needs tighter linking to ensure ideas flow smoothly from one point to the next, placing it firmly at Band 6.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'contemporary society,' 'global market,' and 'specifications.' However, there are numerous lexical and spelling inaccuracies throughout the text, such as writing 'there' instead of 'their,' 'necessities things,' 'launced,' and 'waster their money.' While the student attempts less common vocabulary, word choice and collocation errors are noticeable, and spelling mistakes occasionally detract from the reading experience, though they do not completely impede communication. This corresponds to a Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses introduced by 'because' and 'although.' However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb forms, article usage, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'middle class family could not able to afford it,' 'companies are focusing on creating electric vehicles... like mahindra has recently launched,' and 'i think it totally depends on ones own perspectives.' Punctuation is also occasionally weak, with run-on tendencies. Because errors occur frequently but rarely prevent the reader from understanding the overall meaning, a Band 5.5 is warranted.
