Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, many people gets attracted towards the products which are more popular in use due to their marketing strategy and their advertisment. This essay is going to dicuss about the positive and negetive development of the advertising products.

There are several reasons why some business think that their products are new from others just by their advertisement. One of the reason is that because of their advertisement many customers get attracted because a perfect advertisement can gain more attention in the market than others by which their sales will go more higher. The next reason is to compete with other companies by selling and branding their products for instance, apple company vs samsung company they make their products advertisement by manipulating their customers that their product is more better than other.

I think this strategy is a negetive development because many people get influenced easily so they spent more money on the new things by just throwing their old products just by believing their ads and for the flex among people. It also causes unnecessary consumption as people tends to buy new and new products and create more waste for instance, apple company launch their new products every single year still people some how manage to buy the newly launched iphone by replacing their old phone.

In conclusion, business emphasises their products are new in some ways by creating perfect ads for the costumers. However, i believe that this is totally a negetive development as it causes unnecessary consumption of products which creats more waste in our environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student addresses both parts of the prompt: why businesses emphasise that their products are new, and whether this is a positive or negative development. A clear position is stated that it is a negative development. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and under-developed, particularly in the body paragraphs. For instance, the reasons given for businesses using advertising (to gain attention and compete with rivals like Apple and Samsung) are surface-level and lack deeper extension. Similarly, the discussion on negative impacts focuses primarily on consumer spending and waste, using the same Apple example twice. While the prompt is addressed, the depth of exploration is limited, placing this response comfortably at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is organised into four paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which shows basic structural awareness. However, overall progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and weak cohesive devices. For example, the writer uses repetitive transitions like 'The next reason is' and 'for instance, apple company' multiple times. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'their products are new from others just by their advertisement', which confuses the source of the novelty. Paragraphing is present, but the logical flow within paragraphs is disjointed due to run-on sentences and inadequate linking words. These issues align with the Band 5 descriptor.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive throughout the essay. The writer frequently repeats basic terms such as 'advertisement', 'products', 'new', and 'company'. There are also several spelling and word-choice errors, including 'gets attracted' instead of 'are attracted', 'negetive' instead of 'negative', 'dicuss' instead of 'discuss', 'sales will go more higher' (a double comparative error), and 'creats' instead of 'creates'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the general topic, the noticeable errors and lack of range restrict the score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentences, but grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Examples include 'many people gets attracted', 'businesses think that their products are new from others', 'people tends to buy', and 'people some how manage'. Many complex structures are faulty, resulting in run-on sentences with missing punctuation. Although communication is not totally impeded and the reader can follow the main arguments, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors means the response best fits the Band 5 descriptor.
