Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing why businesses emphasise new products and evaluating whether this is positive or negative. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. The reasons are supported by relevant, albeit informal, examples such as Apple and Mahindra. However, some ideas are a bit simplistic or under-developed, particularly in the conclusion. For instance, the explanation of why companies focus on novelty touches upon competition and improving quality, but the exploration could be deeper to reach higher band levels. Overall, the task is adequately addressed, earning a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay is divided into logical paragraphs with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as 'In contemporary society', 'For instance', and 'On the other hand'. However, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas can feel slightly mechanical. For example, starting sentences with 'And other model' disrupts the flow of discourse. Paragraphing is present and generally appropriate, but internal cohesion within paragraphs suffers from run-on structures and conversational transitions, placing this criterion at Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary relevant to business and technology, such as 'contemporary society', 'global market', 'specifications', and 'interior and exterior'. However, there are numerous lexical and spelling inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'there old products' instead of 'their', 'remain sustain' instead of 'remain sustained' or 'sustain themselves', 'launced', and 'waster their money'. These errors do not heavily impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score. Because the range is adequate for the task but marred by frequent word choice and spelling errors, a Band 5.5 is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional ideas. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense usage, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples include 'middle class family could not able to afford it' (modal verb and article errors), 'mahindra has recently launched there two new models' (possessive determiner error), and 'i think' (lowercase pronoun). Punctuation is also problematic, with several run-on sentences joined inappropriately by commas. Due to the mix of structures alongside persistent errors that occasionally strain readability, the grammar is evaluated at a Band 5.0.
