Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing why businesses emphasise new products and offering an opinion on whether this development is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For example, the reasons provided for the trend, such as 'customers attract by lattest products' and 'increase company's sale and profit', are rather basic and lack depth or extended explanation. Furthermore, the position taken is clear at the beginning ('advertisement has beneficial for every'), but the conclusion is slightly vague. The response fits the Band 5 level because it addresses the task and presents relevant ideas, but these ideas remain under-developed and lack fully supported arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Paragraphing is attempted, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, though the structure lacks clear internal progression. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as the frequent reliance on 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'The first positive development is that'. Additionally, referencing and logical links between sentences can be disjointed, as seen in phrases like 'When the company says that its product are new, hence everyone interesting to buy.' While there is a basic overall arrangement, the frequent mechanical use of cohesive elements and occasional lapses in logical progression place this response at a Band 5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common terms like 'emphasise', 'convenient', and 'development', but there are numerous noticeable errors in word choice, morphology, and spelling throughout the text (e.g., 'advertisment' for 'advertisements', 'essantial' for 'essential', 'indivituals' for 'individuals', 'lattest' for 'latest', 'coloures' for 'colours', and 'lauch' for 'launch'). These errors reflect a Band 5 level, where vocabulary is repetitive and inaccurate enough to occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, though the message remains generally understandable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty, such as in 'Sometimes a person purchase a new product that he don't to buy that due to fact that, he saw its ads in which was written that its new.' There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay, including subject-verb agreement issues ('advertisment became', 'company launch'), missing auxiliary verbs, and awkward prepositions. Because complex sentences are often flawed and errors are frequent across the text, this performance aligns closely with the Band 5 descriptors.
