Student answer (Band 6.0)
Now-a-days most of the billboards strewn across the main roads advertise only one thing, and that is a product that is new or innovative or completely niche. Most of the business in the current market are heavily advertising their new products as new; either in their packaging, design, formula or any other prominent factor.
The foremost argument is that these business only want to grab attention of the consumers in one way or another. It is evident from many expereinces shared by consumers online, that they bought something because the advertisement was intriguing and grabbed their attention, and upon using the product their were no special feature or results. Therefore, it will not be misplaced to argue that businesses no longer care about actually inventing a new product rather they are tweaking the original product and heavely advertising it as a new product. This practice is only making consumers vary and they are becoming more reluctant to buy the hype from such advertsiement and in-turn hurting businesses that are actually making a new and innovative products.
First of all, there are many busines that are doing a great deal in curating new products that are serving to the actual problems faced by consumers in their lives. Therefore, when large businesses dominate the market with their haox advertisements, there is little to no room for these small businesses that are making a change. For example, their are many small brands that are making enviromental friendly skin care products. These prodcts are innovative and use niche technology that target problems in an effective way. But due to large multinational companies with huge advertising budgets, taking over all the advertising media, thee small business are only able to reach a small amount of consumers to promote their products. Thus an effective product is drowned in the sea of ineffective scams.
In summary, because people have been scammed by large corporations on daily basis with promises of new product they have become desperate to find a new product that actually works. In my perspective this is a negative development because the businesses are pressured to brainstorm new product which create several lines of the same product while the actual innovative product gets silenced in the noise of these new products.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The student addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing why businesses emphasise new products and offering a clear personal opinion that this is a negative development. The position is maintained throughout the response. Ideas are generally relevant and extended, such as explaining how large marketing budgets drown out genuine small businesses and how consumers grow wary of exaggerated claims. However, there are some logical leaps and generalisations—for instance, asserting that businesses no longer care about actually inventing products, which slightly limits the depth of task development. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 6.5 to 7.0; it covers all parts well and sustains a clear viewpoint, fitting comfortably into Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is arranged coherently with a logical overall progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and a final summary. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as consumer attention-grabbing versus the impact on small businesses. Cohesive devices are employed reasonably well, including transitional phrases like 'The foremost argument', 'First of all', and 'In summary'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally faulty or repetitive, such as the frequent repetition of 'new product' and slight awkwardness in transitions between sentences. Nevertheless, the organisation remains clear throughout, justifying a Band 6.5 to 7.0 score.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'innovative', 'niche', 'intriguing', and 'enviromental friendly'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'Now-a-days', 'business' instead of 'businesses', 'expereinces', 'their' instead of 'there', 'heavely', 'vary' instead of 'wary', 'advertsiement', 'in-turn', 'busines', 'haox', and 'thee'. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips occur regularly, preventing the score from reaching a higher band. While meaning is generally clear, the frequency of slips places this firmly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are numerous errors involving subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'these business only want', 'there are many busines that are doing'), missing plural forms ('special feature', 'enviromental friendly skin care product'), and preposition usage. Punctuation errors are also present, such as unnecessary commas and comma splices. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to pull the response below Band 7. The control of grammar aligns best with Band 6.0 descriptors.
