Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the contemporary society, organizations advertise their products in a unique and creative way which signifies that their product are distinct from others. This is because of development in technology that differentiates products in advertising. This is a positive development in an entrepreneur's sight.
The introduction of Artificial Intelligence and advanced technology have made huge developments in today's fast-paced world. People have numerous ideas, skills and knowledge about how to make a content more creative and innovative from others when advertising their products which eventually make a product a new invention in the sight of customers, even though the product is not a new invention, just the idea to advertise it is new and more modernize. For instance, there are top leading brands which produces and manufactures old inventions in such a subtle way in an ad which attracts consumers and make them believe that their product are new in some way.
By viewing from a businessman's angle, they believe that it is a positive development as it increases a companies customer base and help them reach their short and long term objectives. This means the utilization of technology and AI is on point as customers are attracted towards the particular organization because of unique and more innovative advertisements on social media platforms. For instance, a cookie shop in Pakistan, which is known as Crumble, marketed their cookies by uploading memes which were relevant, realistic and relatable to the new generation which eventually differentiated their cookies from other brands, hence, it helped them increase its customers and sales in a few period of time.
In conclusion, I would like to propose that emphasizing products that are somewhat new is a positive development as it really helps an individual to think or new ideas which can also broaden their minds and help a business market their products.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the task: why businesses emphasise that their products are new, and whether this is a positive or negative development. The student presents a clear position throughout the essay, suggesting that it stems from technological advancements and that it is a positive development for businesses. Ideas are extended, particularly in the third paragraph with the example of the cookie shop Crumble in Pakistan. However, some arguments lack full depth, such as the initial explanation of why technology causes this trend, which remains somewhat general. Overall, the content aligns well with the requirements for Band 6.0, as all parts are addressed with relevant ideas, though some areas could be further developed with deeper analysis or additional examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the response into a logical introduction, two body paragraphs exploring the causes and the positive nature of the development, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'This is because of', 'For instance', and 'By viewing from a businessman's angle'. However, some cohesive links feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, and referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as 'which eventually make a product a new invention' where pronoun agreement or referencing could be smoother. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, ensuring the text is easy to follow despite minor issues in cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'contemporary society', 'fast-paced world', 'innovative', and 'differentiated'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'make a content more creative' (should be 'content' is uncountable), 'more modernize' (should be 'modernised'), 'a companies customer base' (should be 'company's'), and 'in a few period of time' (should be 'in a short period of time'). These errors do not impede communication, but they reflect the constraints of Band 6 where vocabulary usage shows recurring slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at relative clauses and conditional structures. There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text. For example, subject-verb agreement errors occur in sentences like 'organizations advertise their products in a unique and creative way which signifies that their product are distinct' ('product are' should be 'products are'). Punctuation and phrasing also show minor inaccuracies, such as missing articles ('an entrepreneur's sight'). Despite these recurring errors in complex structures, the meaning remains clear and communication is rarely impeded, which firmly places the grammar at a Band 6 level.
