Student answer (Band 5.0)

From few years, advertising become most famous world wide. Some argued that businsses nowdays usually emphasise that their products are new in some way.

I will discuss this trend and provide a logical conclusion along with my opinion.

One major reason of advertising in new way is that they want more growth. To explain this, in today's, the competition in markets increased day by day because everyone wants to develop their business more rapidly and also want to become sucessfull in short time. For instance, as we see nowaday's the craze of smartphones quality were incresed rapidly and due to that in some companies such as in SUMSUNG or in I PHONE were always have a debat about the quality. Therefore, the both are show there adverstising in new way as the apple company launch there i phone every year with dfferent desing also with few changes in there funcation. However, it claims that the new one is better then last to increse their growth in business.

Moving on, it is a negative development because of their false claims which leads to wasteful spending. To justify this, some companies represent ad with false claims such as in sumsung they claim that their smarthphone prevent extra zoom quality which easily take the picutre of anything from very far distance. Therefore, people should infulence from them and buy it but as it is not real so spending money on it become a waste.

To conclude, although the businesses do advertising in new way because they want to increase their business growth faster from another. But it leads to false claims and wasteful spending.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why businesses emphasise that products are new, and whether this is a positive or negative development. The student presents a clear position, arguing that novelty is driven by market growth and competition, and that it constitutes a negative development due to false claims and wasteful spending. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, particularly in the body paragraphs where examples like 'SUMSUNG' or 'I PHONE' lack precise elaboration. The conclusion summarises the main points effectively. Overall, the performance aligns with the requirements for Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text is organized into paragraphs with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is an attempt at overall progression, but the logical flow is frequently hindered by awkward transitions such as 'Moving on, it is a negative development' and repetitive phrasing. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often inaccurate or mechanically applied (e.g., 'To explain this, in today's...'). Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion lacks seamless connection, resulting in a score of 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally strain the reader (e.g., 'businsses', 'sucessfull', 'adverstising', 'dfferent desing', 'infulence'). While the student attempts less common vocabulary such as 'competition' and 'growth', errors in spelling ('SUMSUNG', 'smarthphone', 'picutre') and collocation are noticeable. The range is minimally adequate for the task, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but many complex forms contain significant errors (e.g., 'From few years, advertising become most famous world wide', 'the competition in markets increased day by day because everyone wants...'). Grammatical inaccuracies are frequent, including errors in tense usage, prepositions, articles, and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the both are show there adverstising'). These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar at a Band 5.0 level.
