Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt in a basic manner by discussing why companies emphasise new products and offering an opinion that it has a negative development. However, the ideas are underdeveloped and lack clear examples. For instance, the claim that businesses remove labels from expired products and sell old clothes is asserted without robust elaboration or logical support. The writer's position is discernible ('I agree with this essay it drop the negative impact'), but awkward expression obscures parts of the argument. Furthermore, the analysis tends to overgeneralise without providing specific, relevant examples from the writer's own knowledge or experience as requested in the prompt. Consequently, this performance aligns closely with Band 5 descriptors, as the task is addressed only partially and ideas remain limited.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The essay is divided into several paragraphs, showing an attempt at organisation. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by unclear referencing and abrupt transitions. For example, sentences like 'As we read above asking old product new give greater impact on the society' lack clear connection to the preceding text. Cohesive devices are minimal, repetitive, or inaccurate, making the overall arrangement choppy and difficult to follow. Paragraphing is also erratic, with single-sentence paragraphs breaking the flow of the argument. These features place the response firmly in Band 4, where information and ideas are not arranged coherently and progression is lacking.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on everyday words such as 'new', 'old', 'products', 'companies', and 'money'. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors that impede smooth reading, such as 'became fool from the company policies', 'fake promises for saying old product to new', and 'setting the new label'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'enterprises' and 'development', are undermined by inaccurate usage or awkward phrasing. Because the lexical range is limited and frequent errors in word formation and collocation cause difficulty for the reader, the response warrants a Band 4 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The writer demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences with frequent structural errors. Complex sentence forms are rarely attempted, and when they are, they are often faulty or ungrammatical, such as 'Many people who check the background of the companies and check the review they will be safer but who trust blindly on these companies face difficulties.' Errors in tense agreement, prepositions, articles, and clause structure are pervasive throughout the text (e.g., 'it drop the negative impact', 'expire product', 'is a another fraud company are come'). These frequent errors distort meaning and place a heavy burden on the reader, corresponding to a Band 4 level of grammatical control.
