Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, advertising becomes a trend and every company advertising their products, they make sure that their products are different from others. I strongly believe that it is a negative development, the reason behind this will discussed in forthcoming paragraph.

To begin with, the first reason is a better marketing. To elaborate, businesses advertising their products for a better marketing because through advertising a product, can be a better impact on sale. Comapnies often emphasise to costomer that our produst is unique by which costomer are influencing due to such advertising. For instance beauty products brands, which are racing to compete each other brands. Moreover, many companies avertising their products practical. To explain, such companies prefer to advertise their product in practical way, such as cars and bikes advertisements. For example, TATA launche their cars often and they prefer to show practical, like how tata cars are safe then others.

On the other hand, it is a negative development specially for children. To elaborate, many children engage to use smartphones and video games but can be harmful for them. After watch ads they pressure their parents to purchase that thing but parents cannot aford it, like set up of a video game and smartphones to play games, because such companies advertise their products in different way. For example, Apple launches their gadgets and people attrecing a lot towards it. Furhtermore, due to pressure parents can get health issues and children also.

Thus it can be concluded that companies attrects people towrads their products due to a unique advertisement, while it can be a negative development for individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt only partially, fulfilling the requirement for a balanced discussion regarding why businesses emphasise new products and whether this is a positive or negative development, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For example, while the writer touches upon marketing impacts and the negative influence on children, these points are not sufficiently extended with strong reasoning or comprehensive examples. The position is stated as a negative development, but the overall presentation lacks depth and clarity in places, resulting in a somewhat superficial exploration of the topic. To move towards higher bands, the writer must ensure that all parts of the prompt are fully explored with well-supported arguments and fully developed explanations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic level of organisation with attempts at paragraphing, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are sometimes used mechanically or inaccurately, such as repetitive transitions like 'To elaborate' and 'For example', and linking phrases like 'Furhtermore'. Referencing is not always clear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disrupted by awkward connections. For instance, the transition from discussing car advertisements to the negative impact on children on the other hand lacks a smooth logical bridge. To improve, the writer needs to employ a wider range of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that the progression of ideas from one paragraph to the next is much smoother and transparent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, with noticeable lexical errors and spelling mistakes that occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, such as 'attrecing' instead of 'attracting', 'comapnies', 'costomer', and 'aford'. The range of vocabulary is restricted, relying on basic terms and frequent repetition of words like 'products', 'advertising', and 'companies'. Attempts to use less common lexical items are largely absent or unsuccessful due to word choice and word form errors. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, incorporate more precise academic terminology, and pay closer attention to spelling and correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences, while attempts at more complex structures are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb forms and tenses, subject-verb agreement, and missing articles or prepositions, such as in 'advertising becomes a trend and every company advertising their products', 'businesses advertising their products for a better marketing', and 'after watch ads they pressure their parents'. These errors cause noticeable difficulty and strain for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to increase the variety of complex sentence forms used and gain much better control over basic grammatical rules and punctuation.
