Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowdays, Business emphasise frequntly use of advertisment , their products is a new way to show in puplic.

One major reason companies emphasise novelty is that consumers often associate new products with improvement. People may assume that a newer version contains better technology, improved performance or additional features. For example, smartphone manufacturers regularly advertise new models by focusing on upgraded cameras, longer battery life and artificial intelligence features. Even when the differences between an old and a new model are relatively small, presenting the product as innovative can encourage customers to replace their existing devices. Furthermore, in highly competitive markets, describing a product as new can help a company attract attention and distinguish itself from rival brands.

There are, however, both positive and negative aspects to this development. On the positive side, competition based on innovation can motivate companies to invest in research and development. As a result, consumers may benefit from safer, more efficient and more convenient products. For instance, improvements in electric vehicles have been encouraged partly by competition among manufacturers to develop newer technologies and provide better driving ranges.

On the other hand, excessive emphasis on novelty can encourage unnecessary consumption. Consumers may purchase products simply because they are marketed as new, even though their existing products still function well. This can increase household expenditure and contribute to environmental problems, particularly when older electronic devices are discarded prematurely. In addition, some advertisements may exaggerate minor improvements, giving consumers the impression that a product is significantly different when it is not.

In conclusion, advertisment has both side of positive and negaive view it's totally depends on poeple. Who consume their product of the shown and ad in these site.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by explaining why businesses emphasise novelty and discussing whether this development is positive or negative. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. The reasons provided are generally relevant, such as consumer perceptions of improved technology and market competition. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the body paragraphs contain solid examples regarding smartphones and electric vehicles, but the conclusion fails to effectively summarise the main points and introduces vague phrasing such as 'it's totally depends on poeple. Who consume their product of the shown and ad in these site.' To reach the next level, the writer needs to ensure all parts of the argument, especially the conclusion, are fully extended and clearly articulated without abrupt shifts in meaning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas. The response is divided into sensible paragraphs, moving from an introduction to reasons for novelty, followed by positive and negative aspects, and concluding with a final summary. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'One major reason', 'On the positive side', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, cohesion can sometimes feel mechanical or slightly repetitive, and referencing is not always completely clear, particularly in the concluding sentence where the connection to the previous paragraphs becomes confused. To achieve a higher band, the writer must use cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that transitions between sentences and paragraphs flow naturally and logically without causing ambiguity for the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'innovation', 'manufacturer', 'expenditure', and 'prematurely'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'Nowdays' instead of 'Nowadays', 'frequntly' for 'frequently', 'advertisment' for 'advertisement', and 'puplic' for 'public'. Additionally, phrases like 'has both side of positive and negaive view' show awkward collocation and word choice. While these vocabulary and spelling errors do not seriously impede overall communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, the writer should focus on expanding word choice precision, avoiding repetitive lexical errors, and ensuring correct spelling of common academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'Even when the differences between an old and a new model are relatively small...' and 'Consumers may purchase products simply because they are marketed as new...'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles, incorrect singular and plural agreement ('Business emphasise frequntly use...'), and fragmented sentence structures in the opening and closing sentences ('their products is a new way to show in puplic'). Despite these persistent errors, they rarely impede communication, and the majority of the complex sentences in the body paragraphs are reasonably well-controlled. To progress further, the writer needs to increase the frequency of error-free sentences and refine basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and article usage.
