Student answer (Band 5.5)

Despite producing new items rapidly, many businesses nowadays usually claim in their advertisements that their products are new in some way. I strongly believe, it is not a positive development, because it can influence people to make higher expectations with products of these companies.

One of the major drawbacks of this initiative is that It can cause the majority of businesses failure to perform well in markets due to expectations that individuals have with that particular products. Additonally, if the product doesnot match the desired expectation level, it will lead to raise the rate of dissatisfaction level among individuals and will fail to retain customers. For instance, many companies that emphasise that their products are new than others to stand out in the market, are facing greater unstatisfactory feedbacks from customers. Therefore, It can not be considered a positive development in the field of business and marketing.

Another major negative impact of this is that following this concept businesses can become more aware about the presentation of their products in a society, while ignoring the need of focusing more on the quality of products, which can eventually lead to the market myopia, a phenomenon associated with the retard approch towards product quality. A clear illustration of this is provided by various new entrepreneurs, that focused more on advertisting their products as a new to markets, have experienced market myopia more than others.

Although, we cannot negelect the short term benefit of promoting items as new products in a market such a gaining more customers initially, but from my perspective, Its adverse impacts on businesses which includes hard to retain customer and increase level of dissatisfaction, are way significant than positive effects.

To conclude, market myopia and increase expectation level with cetain products can adversely effect buisnesses by making it hard to retain customers. From my point of view, its a negative development as it exhibits major disadvantages that cannot be outweigh by the minute advantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing why businesses emphasise newness and offering a clear position that it is a negative development. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For instance, the discussion on customer dissatisfaction and market myopia relies on general assertions rather than fully extended arguments or detailed examples. The position is stated, but the support lacks depth, which keeps the response at this level. To move further, you should expand your arguments with more robust, specific explanations or hypothetical scenarios rather than restating the same core points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The text maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure your ideas logically. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Devices such as 'One of the major drawbacks of this initiative is that It can cause...', 'Additonally', and 'Although, we cannot negelect...' show awkward transitions and referencing that is not always completely clear. While the progression is generally understandable, improving the natural flow between sentences and refining your use of cohesive markers will help elevate the organization of your writing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, showing an attempt to incorporate less common terms such as 'market myopia', 'dissatisfaction level', and 'entrepreneurs'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors in word choice, spelling, and word form, including 'unstatisfactory' instead of 'unsatisfactory', 'negelect', 'retard approch', and 'advertisting'. Furthermore, expressions like 'make higher expectations' are unnatural in collocation. These errors do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the precision and flexibility of your expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and concessive clauses such as 'if the product doesnot match the desired expectation level...' and 'Although, we cannot negelect...'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'businesses failure to perform', incorrect article usage, and spelling within grammar patterns like 'doesnot'. Complex sentence attempts are often faulty, and punctuation errors such as unnecessary commas ('I strongly believe, it is not...') persist throughout the text, though they rarely impede overall communication.
