Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Advertisements is a way of promoting products in the market through influencing consumers through different media platforms.Currently, businesses focus on products as recently developed through advertising by playing with the minds of the people, as people prefer anything in the name of innovation and creativity.

It is considered to be positive development as it will create variety in the consumer option. So, it will be easy for the consumer to get a good quality for example a new skincare product will create variance for consumers by creating more options. However , it can be regarded as negative development when businesses are compromising the quality of product and just tend to make new product instead of improving quality. example include a business that is launching each year new product and still not improving the quality.

According to my perspective, every innovations has both pros and cons. but i believe that according to me it its drawbacks are far most than its advantages as nowadays quality of goods are deeming. So better quality of goods should be the main motive of the companies instead of launching new product each year.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the main parts of the task by discussing why businesses emphasise new products and giving opinions on whether this is positive or negative. However, the word count requirement is not met, as the response contains 187 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. Furthermore, the position is not always clearly sustained throughout, and the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on skincare products and the negative impact of launching yearly items lacks sufficient expansion and concrete examples from your own knowledge or experience. To reach a higher band, you need to write at least 250 words and fully extend your arguments with detailed support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable progression of ideas. You attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Currently', 'It is considered to be', and 'However', although referencing and transitions are at times slightly mechanical or repetitive, as seen with the repeated use of 'development'. Paragraphing is utilized to separate the introduction, the body points addressing pros and cons, and the concluding perspective. To progress further, you need to ensure smoother logical links between sentences and paragraphs, and employ a wider range of cohesive devices without over-relying on basic transitional words.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

Your lexical range is adequate for the task, allowing you to discuss business advertising and innovation with vocabulary such as 'promoting', 'consumers', and 'innovation and creativity'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation that may occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, such as writing 'Advertisements is' instead of 'Advertising is', or using 'deeming' instead of 'declining'. You also repeat words like 'product' and 'development' frequently. To achieve a higher score, you should incorporate a more varied and precise range of less common lexical items while maintaining greater accuracy in word formation and collocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You demonstrate a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside a few basic complex attempts that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'every innovations has', awkward phrasing such as 'according to my perspective, every innovations has both pros and cons. but i believe that according to me it its drawbacks', and incorrect capitalization and punctuation around conjunctions. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, you should practice constructing accurate complex sentences and refine your control over basic grammatical agreements and punctuation rules.
