Student answer (Band 5.0)
Personally i think that there is nothing new in their products. Almost every company is saling the same product with a slight modifications in their packaging items and other services. However if every company is saling a new item then that item would have some positive and negative points depending upon the quality, material and its purpose. for example, If some companies are saling bauty and cosmetic products and all of them claims that they have different variety as compared to the next company then the experts would choose whether they are saling good quality products at normal rate or not. So if there is a variety in the products, It would simplify our desires and needs according to our money. We would buy that stuff that we can affored but sometimes it gets difficult to choose a single item from that vast category of items. However, as i already told that this decision is upto experts. They can choose what type of stuff is usable and fruitful and which is useless or of less use. So i cant say that its a positive development and neither i can ask that its a negative development. However, if we judge that case as a whole then it is a positive develpment because people get many options regarding their interests and the quality they need. But that thing varies from person to person, mindset to mindset, culture to culture and area to area. Generally it is a positive development. Its my personal opinion and can neither be think as a fact

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While the writer touches upon both parts of the prompt regarding why businesses emphasise new products and whether this is a positive or negative development, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the argument that experts evaluate products is introduced briefly without sufficient explanation or relevant examples. Furthermore, the position taken in the essay lacks clarity at times, shifting between uncertainty and a final personal opinion, which prevents the development of a fully formed argument. To improve, the writer needs to extend ideas with clear explanations and specific, well-supported examples for each part of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The essay displays some overall organisation, but lacks a clear logical progression throughout. The response is written as a single dense block of text with proper paragraphing entirely absent, which makes the flow difficult to follow. Additionally, cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, relying heavily on basic conjunctions and repetitive transitional phrases like 'however' and 'so'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as when pronouns like 'that thing' are used without precise antecedents. To achieve a higher band, the writer must divide the response into logical paragraphs and use a wider range of cohesive devices accurately to guide the reader smoothly through the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey basic points about products and choices. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form throughout the response, such as 'saling' instead of 'selling', 'bauty' instead of 'beauty', and 'affored' instead of 'afford'. These errors, alongside repetitions of common words, occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader and reveal a restricted lexical range. To improve, the writer should focus on expanding vocabulary related to business and consumer trends, and pay closer attention to spelling and standard collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of basic sentences alongside simple compound structures. Attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty, featuring frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization (such as starting sentences with lowercase 'i'), and subject-verb agreement. For example, expressions like 'if some companies are saling... and all of them claims' show issues with plural agreements. Furthermore, punctuation is weak, with missing apostrophes in contractions like 'cant' and 'its'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty and strain for the reader. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to practice forming accurate complex sentences and improve basic punctuation and agreement rules.
