Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is an undeniabel fact that some companies advertising their products as a way that look like a completely different thing. While some individuals might consider it as positive initiative. However, i partially treats it as negative development because it is unfair with the customer and it discouraging customers with long term investments but also because of it promoting a disposable culture. This essay will explore the negative side of the argument and also discuss why mosty brands does this act.

There are multiple disadvantages of demonstrating outdated products as new. First of all, it is unfairness with the consumer because consumer pays price of new one and he has right to get fully updated thing as he assume but due to the poor planing of companies consumer became victim of seller. For example, recently i read a post on facebook consumer complaint group that Bata famous shoe brand selled old shoes through their advertising and after some time they broken and wasted.

Secondly, an additional negative point is it breaks the trust of the customer so then customer takes his hand back and starts to bycott the brand. Multiple businesses display their product as new because they want to boost their sell and earn more profit but after exposing the reality, this initiative distroys the reputation of the company and some times companies became bankrupt. Furthermore, another considerable negative demerit is it creates disposable culture in the society. Some brands dis this act to boost their sell but after negative respone from the consumer, Major portion of the people starts distrusting of brands because an environment is created in the market that ventures advertise their products falsly as new. To recapitulate, dispite some advantages to the company of false advertising, i belive it can lead to distroy the relationship between consumer and seller. therefore

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt partially, attempting to explain why businesses emphasise new products and offering a clear opinion that it is a negative development. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. While the introduction outlines that the essay will explore the negative side and discuss why brands do this, the explanation of why companies advertise products as new is brief and integrated rather than fully explored. Furthermore, the supporting examples, such as the mention of a shoe brand or a local food company, are anecdotal and lack the necessary depth and generalisation expected at higher bands. The conclusion is also incomplete, trailing off abruptly with the word 'therefore'. To improve, the writer needs to ensure both parts of the prompt are given equal weight and that ideas are extended with well-supported reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation in the essay, with paragraphs used to separate different points, such as the unfairness to consumers and the loss of trust. However, there is no clear overall progression across the text as a whole. Cohesive devices are at times inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, with frequent reliance on basic linkers like 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'Furthermore'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the mechanical transitions disrupt the natural flow of ideas. Additionally, paragraphing is affected by the incomplete concluding sentence. To achieve a higher band, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices, ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs, and maintain a clear, logical progression from introduction to conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical resource used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. The vocabulary includes noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'undeniabel', 'disculturing', 'selled' instead of sold, 'distroys', and 'mistrust company'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary like 'disposable culture' and 'reputations', but the frequent inaccuracies cause some difficulty for the reader and impede precise communication. To progress, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, pay closer attention to spelling and word forms, and use terms that naturally collocate, such as 'undermine trust' rather than 'breaks the trust'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a limited range of grammatical structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, these are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of grammatical lapses include subject-verb agreement errors like 'consumer pays' and 'mosty brands does this', awkward phrasing such as 'as a way that look like', and punctuation issues including lowercase pronoun usage for 'i'. Articles and prepositions are also handled inconsistently throughout the text. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns, improve verb form accuracy, and ensure correct punctuation and agreement across all sentences.
