Student answer (Band 5.5)
Advertising is one of the fundamental methods used by companies to promote their products or services. These days companies are pretending in marketing that they have innovative ideas and completely different items in some way. I think this is the positive developement to motivate other brands for new inventions and updates.
One of the major reasons why businesses are adopting this approach is to gain significant popularity and gather attention of consumers. People apparently attract towards newly lanuched collections of fashion, digital devices, and automobiles; however, these brands just make slight changes in previous products and call it latest model. For example, Apple lanuches new models almost year significantly with just few valuable updates to motivate their users to purchase new phone. Another reason is to compete with other competitive brands head to head and generate enormous revenue from the compaign.
This is the positive developement in certain ways like it can contribute to contribute to their efficiently growth as well as motivate other businesses to come up with innovative ideas. Such advertisings allow companies to get famous, and earn the confidence of their customers, and most importantly grow profits. This would also be advantageous for countries' budget as well, if business produce numerous products and obtain profits. Futhermore, this postive impact can demand other brands to upgrade and develope something useful. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both why businesses advertise products as new and providing an opinion on whether this is a positive or negative development. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the reasons for advertising newness—such as gaining consumer attention and competing in the market—are introduced, they are somewhat under-developed and lack extended explanation. For instance, the point about Apple launching new models is mentioned briefly without fully exploring the consumer psychology behind it. Similarly, the positive development viewpoint is supported by relevant ideas like encouraging innovation, as seen in the Toyota hybrid car example, but some assertions remain generalized. To reach a higher level, the ideas need more thorough elaboration and deeper support throughout the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement and attempts to organize ideas into an introduction, body paragraphs, and an unfinished conclusion. Information flows with some logical progression, and cohesive devices are employed, such as 'One of the major reasons', 'Another reason', and 'Furthermore'. However, cohesion can sometimes be mechanical or faulty, and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the abrupt transition within sentences like 'contribute to contribute to their efficiently growth'. Paragraphing is used to separate main points, but the abrupt ending in the conclusion reveals a lack of adequate closure. To improve cohesion, the writer should ensure smoother transitions between sentences and more accurate use of referencing devices to connect ideas seamlessly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'innovative', 'significant', and 'enterprise'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and spelling errors that affect precision, including 'developement' instead of 'development', 'lanuched' instead of 'launched', and 'compaign' instead of 'campaign'. Word choice is sometimes slightly inappropriate, such as 'efficiently growth' instead of 'efficient growth'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, allowing the reader to grasp the core message, but they prevent the writing from achieving a higher level. Expanding control over word forms, spelling, and collocations will significantly enhance this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structures with clauses linked by words like 'although', 'because', and 'which'. However, there are several errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. Examples include articles and prepositions in phrases like 'gather attention of consumers' and 'countries' budget', as well as subject-verb agreement issues such as 'business produce'. While these errors are present, they rarely impede communication, and the meaning of the sentences remains generally clear. To progress, the writer needs to increase the frequency of error-free sentences and refine the accuracy of complex structures, particularly regarding articles, prepositions, and singular/plural agreement.
