Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, many companies advertise their products as new, improved, or least version. This is very common marketing strategy. There are several reasons for this, and i think it is mostly a negative and positive development.
There are two reason why businesses show their products as new. Firstly, it attracts customers. people always interested in the new the new thing. If a product is new, people think its have better features and better technology. For example, when apple launches a new iphone, people want to buy it even the old phone is working good. Secondly, competition is very high. Every company want to show that it is better than other companies. By saying new formula and new design they try to stay head in the market.
On the other side, it has positive development. advertising the attract the more people rather than other activities. such as we saw many of ads view on social media on time we dismiss but the brand is still remember in your mind when we go market we discovered such brand that we saw on ads.
In conclusion, the advertising is a positive development

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task only partially. It attempts to discuss both parts of the prompt regarding why businesses emphasise new products and whether this is a positive or negative development, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. Furthermore, the position is not always clear, as the introduction states that the trend is 'mostly a negative and positive development' without clearly reconciling those views, and the conclusion contradicts the body paragraphs by suddenly stating that 'the advertising is a positive development'. Additionally, the length requirement of at least 250 words is not met, as the response contains only 188 words. To reach a higher band, the writer must fully develop all parts of the prompt with extended supporting details, maintain a clear and consistent position throughout, and ensure the word count requirement is satisfied.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation, but a clear overall progression is lacking. While basic paragraphing is attempted, the structure is disrupted by very short paragraphs and abrupt transitions, such as 'On the other side, it has positive development' which awkwardly shifts into a discussion about advertising effectiveness rather than directly evaluating the negative aspects of the trend. Cohesive devices are inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, with repetitive referencing and missing links between sentences, such as 'people always interested in the new the new thing'. To improve, the writer needs to logically sequence ideas with a clearer overall progression and use a wider, more accurate range of cohesive devices to guide the reader smoothly through the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some topic-specific terms like 'marketing strategy' and 'competition', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and form, such as 'least version', 'formula and new design', and 'brand is still remember'. Spelling and capitalization errors also occur, such as 'apple' instead of 'Apple' and 'head' instead of 'ahead'. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical range by incorporating less common vocabulary and idiomatic expressions with greater precision and control over style and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences, while attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('people always interested', 'people think its have', 'Every company want', 'advertising the attract'), missing articles ('is very common marketing strategy'), and lowercase pronouns ('i'). Punctuation and sentence boundaries also show weakness. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader. To move up, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence forms while maintaining control over basic grammar, punctuation, and tense consistency.
