Student answer (Band 6.0)

Today, organisations and companies want their products to be advertised in a new way. This is because people are getting out of interest in buying the same products. I believe this is a positive development as it will help businesses to earn more profit and eventually leading to country's growth.

Businesses are finding new ways to promote their products because individuals are not buying their products. The primary reason is that people are getting bored by usual advertisements of products and want something fasinating and above standards. In advertising, various companies are making their products eye-catching and adding upgraded high-tech features to fasinate many people. For-example, Apple company makes iphones every year and always introduce new and advancing features whenever showcasting in their big event.

I believe that stressing on producing goods in a new version is a positive development as whole nation benefit from this strategy. This is due to the fact that launching the same product with a new look will attract consumers and this will bring increase profit and value to the business. As a consequence, this strategy will generate massive revenue resulting in increase in overall GDP and country's growth. For-instance, Samsung launch new products with innovative designs and upgrading technology every year, thus attracting many individuals worldwide and consequently generating massive revenue in South Korea.

In conclusion, nowadays a lot of businesses are manufacturing goods in new ways when advertising them because they want to attract more audiences which have been bored by usual products. I believe this may bring positive outcome as it will attract more money that results in growth and prosperity of the country itself.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both why businesses emphasise new products and whether this is a positive or negative development. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. However, some ideas are under-developed rather than fully extended. For instance, while the essay mentions that people get bored of usual advertisements and want something 'above standards,' this point is not deeply explored. Similarly, the explanation of economic growth relies on general assertions rather than fully elaborated arguments. To reach a higher level, the ideas would need more thorough explanation and deeper supporting details rather than repetitive statements about generating revenue.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear central topic for each paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs addressing the two parts of the prompt, and the conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'This is due to the fact that' and 'As a consequence' are relied upon heavily to link ideas. Additionally, referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as 'which have been bored by usual products' in the conclusion. To improve cohesion further, a wider variety of cohesive devices and more natural transitions between sentences should be employed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'fasinating,' 'innovative designs,' and 'prosperity.' However, there are noticeable word-choice, spelling, and word-form errors that prevent the lexical score from being higher. For example, 'fasinating' is misspelled, the phrase 'getting out of interest' is an unnatural collocation for losing interest, and expressions like 'stressing on producing' contain prepositional inaccuracies. Furthermore, 'Apple company' and 'For-example' show slight awkwardness in phrasing. To achieve a higher band, the vocabulary needs greater precision, accurate spelling, and more natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an ability to construct multi-clause sentences using subordinating conjunctions like 'because' and 'as.' There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as article omission in 'country's growth' and 'bringing increase profit,' as well as subject-verb agreement slips like 'Samsung launch' instead of launches. However, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede overall communication. To move up to a more advanced band, the writer would need to produce a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences with more sophisticated syntactic control.
