Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, the companies often promote their goods as new or distinct in some way, through channels of advertisments, due to various reasons. Personally, I believe that its a positive development, and so on, I have supported this arguement in my essay.

First of all, this benifits firms to create a separate brand identity, because in todays world where for instance, there are 1000s of chocolate producers, selling similar chocolates, so with the advertisments help, a producer can use even a tiny difference in its product, to present it as distinct in potential consumers eyes, so that a separate identity of assuming that chocolate, can be created, and hence satisfied customers can identify that chocolate anywhere in stores, which would allow more purchases of that chocolate brand, therefore, leading to higher brand loyalty being formed for a business, which potentially can bring firms more sales for that company, and from consumers perspective they can find their favourite products more easily.

Another positive point for this development is that, this strategy incentivises people to keep trying on different products, for instance a carmaker can present its new release as distinct in some manner, which can persuade carowners to replace or buy another automobile product, hence, allowing customers of new products launched to use products and evaluate the latest features promoted, which eventually can broaden the customer knowledge and expereriences about different products, and can also potentially elevate their living standards sometimes.

to conclude, the USP creating ads can be helpful in making custoemr==

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the reasons for emphasising new products and providing a clear position that it is a positive development. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, which places the response at this level. For instance, the explanation of how brand identity is formed relies on a prolonged, repetitive chain of clauses rather than fully extending the arguments with distinct supporting examples. The conclusion is also incomplete, trailing off at the end, which restricts the overall development of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation present in the response, with distinct paragraph breaks separating the introduction, two body paragraphs, and the start of a conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, largely because sentences tend to run on excessively through repetitive use of conjunctions like 'and so on' and 'and hence'. Cohesive devices are often inaccurate or over-used, creating a mechanical flow that lacks natural transitions. Furthermore, referencing is not always clear, and the abrupt ending prevents the text from achieving a coherent logical progression throughout.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used represents a limited but minimally adequate range for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'incentivises' and 'distinct', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form, including 'benifits', 'arguement', 'advertisments', 'custoemr', and 'expereriences'. These lexical errors and awkward collocations cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher level of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying heavily on long, run-on sentences rather than a controlled mix of simple and complex forms. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, characterised by comma splices and severe structural confusion, such as 'Personally, I believe that its a positive development, and so on, I have supported this arguement in my essay.' There are frequent errors in punctuation, articles, and clause structures throughout the text, which cause ongoing difficulty for the reader.
