Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays,it has become a common practical for businesses to promote there products by emphasis that they are new or improved in some manner. This approach is mainly driven by intense market competition and the need to capture consumer interest. I believe this is a positive development because it fosters continuous innovations and provides buyers with superior higher quality products.

To begin with, why the businesses emphasis that their product are new because the want attract the consumers towards the product they start labeling that product as new so people think that product change any kind of formula which are new or improved in it that create a curiosity in mind of people which make their sales up.Moreover, the bigger companies creates fear of missing out ( FOMO ). people want to flaunt their modern lifestyle in the society. For example, apple company launch new i phone each and every year in which they do minimal changes each year but by this every person want that i phone by this they are selling the product.Hence every company wants their sales become more and more so they are doing this kind of advertising gimmick.

However, it is a positive developments because it encourage innovation,if companies are legitimately claim a product is new they can invest in that product and lead to genuine technological advancements and better quality products which improves the economy of any country. Furthermore, people have batter choices for products there are different types of upgrade which is really use for the consumer like improvement in safety.

In conclusion, although advertising new products can sometimes lead to impulse buying. I believe this is overall a positive development because it drives continuous innovation and offers consumer better quality options

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: you explain that businesses highlight novelty to attract consumers and increase sales, and you clearly support this as a positive development. The examples of Apple’s annual iPhone launches and product safety improvements are relevant. Your explanation of consumer curiosity and FOMO also shows an understanding of why this advertising is used. To strengthen the response further, develop the reasons and evaluation more evenly: the Apple example mainly illustrates sales tactics, while the benefits of innovation and better quality are asserted rather than demonstrated. The brief concession about impulse buying could also be explained and weighed against the benefits. This would make the argument more fully supported and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining businesses’ motives, a paragraph supporting your view, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded into long sentences, particularly the explanation of how a “new” label creates curiosity and raises sales. Some links are also mechanical, and the relationship between the Apple example and the preceding point could be made clearer. Use shorter, more controlled sentences and make each paragraph’s central point explicit before adding its explanation or example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “market competition,” “consumer interest,” “fear of missing out,” “technological advancements,” and “impulse buying.” These choices show an attempt to discuss advertising and innovation beyond very basic terms. However, the range is uneven, and inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations sometimes make the meaning less natural—for example, “continuous innovations,” “flaunt their modern lifestyle,” and “better quality options.” Repetition of “product,” “new,” and “sales” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn useful phrases as complete collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish genuine product improvements from promotional claims.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if companies are legitimately claim a product is new” and a relative clause in “which improves the economy.” This shows some ambition, but control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation often make the reader work to follow the meaning. For example, “why the businesses emphasis that their product are new because the want attract” combines an indirect question with several faulty verb forms, while “the bigger companies creates” has a subject–verb agreement error. Some sentences also run together without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them using conjunctions and relative clauses.
