Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate stating that, businesses nowadays emphasise that their products have novelty in some way. This is their biggest advertisement stunt made to sell their product which, I see as a negative development because it breaks the customer client relationship otherwise addressed as trust.
Speaking from the company and employees point of view it is their job to make a product and sell it to increase the revenue of their company.
Eventhough, it is their duty they forget that they are also a customer for a product of someother company. Manufacturing and selling a product is not an issue here, genuine product matters. The company should really make a proper R&D on the exact need of a product and working to build it. If the product is really in need and the cost is completely reasonable there is no requirement for false advertisements which kills customers trust.
For example, If I need a mobile protector to protect my mobile physically, when I look for a mobile protector I will look for features like durability, scratch resistance, edge cushion, camera bump, good grip etc. Now, if i get a product based on these features at a reasonable cost the product don't have to be advertised. But companies trying to be competative they introduce unwanted features to the products which doesnt have impact on the soul purpose of the product and they advertise these needless features with fancy explanations and trigger our minds to go for new things which is manupulative.
In conclusion, advertising the product is good but trying to overplay the product to beat your competator is on the whole a negative development from a customers point of view.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you regard the emphasis on novelty as negative because it can undermine customer trust and encourage misleading promotion. You also give a relevant example involving a mobile protector, explaining that practical features matter more than unnecessary additions. This addresses the opinion part of the task well. However, the explanation of why businesses emphasise novelty is only partly developed: you mention revenue and competition, but could explain more directly how novelty attracts attention, differentiates products, or encourages purchases. The response also focuses mainly on exaggerated or false advertising, whereas the prompt asks about highlighting products as new, which is not necessarily deceptive. Clarifying this distinction and developing both causes and consequences would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs explain the business perspective and give an example, and the conclusion restates your position. The mobile-protector example is relevant and helps the reader follow your argument. However, progression is sometimes abrupt. The opening moves quickly from novelty to “advertisement stunt” and loss of trust without showing the link, while “Speaking from the company and employees point of view” does not clearly connect to the preceding claim. Some linking is mechanical, and the long example paragraph contains several ideas that would be easier to follow if divided or more clearly signposted. Use transitions to show cause and contrast, and make references such as “it” and “these needless features” more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “revenue,” “genuine product,” “durability,” “scratch resistance,” and “manipulative,” which helps communicate your concerns about marketing. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “soul purpose” and “overplay the product,” but these are not natural or precise in context. Several spelling and word-choice errors—“Eventhough,” “competative,” “manupulative,” and “competator”—are noticeable, and phrases such as “customer client relationship” and “make a proper R&D” are awkward. These choices do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling; for example, describe “customer trust” and “conduct market research” rather than using improvised combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “If I need a mobile protector” and a relative clause in “a product which … I see as a negative development.” This shows some range, and your main meaning is generally understandable. However, some sentence structures and punctuation are faulty. The opening comma after “stating” is unnecessary, and the clause beginning “This is their biggest advertisement stunt” is awkwardly joined to the following clause. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, such as “the product don't have to be advertised,” and the sentence beginning “Eventhough, it is their duty” is punctuated incorrectly. Review subject–verb agreement, clause boundaries, and comma use, while keeping complex sentences controlled.
