Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, businesses often highlight the facts that their product are new or improved in some way when they advertise them. There are several reasons for this trend. In my opinion this is generally a positive development because it encourages companies to improve their products and gives consumers more choices.

One main reason why bussinesses focus on on new products is the strong compition in the market. Companies want to attract customers with new products with more benefits as the products use by their compititors. Advertising is best way to attract the customer towards the new product. For example when you develop new face cream you post on social media or you putt the penaflex of your product on the billboards and write benifits on it when people see your advertisement then they want to use this product in this way there is more advertisement because when someone use your product then he preffer to his friend and family members to use it.

Another reason is that customers are usally interested in new technology and improvements, so bussinesses use this interest to increase their sales.

In conclusion, bussinesses emphasise the new features of their products mainly because of competition and customers interest in innovation. I believe its is a positive development overall because it promote better products and give consumers more choices.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You answer both parts of the question: competition and customer interest are offered as reasons, and your view is clearly positive, supported by the idea that innovation improves products and expands choice. However, the response addresses the task only partially because these ideas are brief and not fully explained. The face-cream example focuses on advertising methods and word-of-mouth rather than showing specifically how a new feature benefits consumers or helps a company compete. The second reason is stated but not illustrated or developed. The response also falls 29 words short of the required minimum, limiting the space available to explain and support your points. Develop each reason with a clear explanation and a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on competition, a further reason, and a conclusion. The opening and conclusion also maintain a consistent positive position. However, progression is uneven: the paragraph about competition contains a long chain of ideas, moving from developing a cream to billboards and recommendations, which makes the central point harder to follow. The transition to customer interest is abrupt, and the final paragraph mostly repeats the introduction rather than drawing the reasons together. Use clearer topic sentences and divide the example into shorter, logically connected sentences. Referencing and linking should clarify how each example supports the reason, rather than simply adding more information.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “competition,” “customers,” “technology,” “improvements,” and “sales,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce clarity, such as “compition,” “benifits,” and “preffer.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “the products use by their compititors” does not clearly express the intended comparison, and “putt the penaflex” is difficult to interpret. Aim for accurate, natural collocations such as “products offered by competitors” and “promotional materials.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise phrases will make your argument easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a sentence explaining that customers are interested in new technology. The main message remains understandable, but control is inconsistent, particularly in the long example sentence, where several clauses are joined without clear punctuation. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, as in “their product are new,” and the opening phrase “the facts that” is not grammatically well formed in this context. The conclusion contains “it promote,” where the verb does not agree with its subject. Practise building shorter, complete sentences and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation before submitting.
