Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years , businesses advertise that there product are different in some way as they want to reduce competition . This should be considered as positive development as businesses can attract customers, increase profit and customers can review better quality products.
The main reason for why businesses show that their product is different from anothers is that one can reduce competition and increase sales as customers are attracted towards unique goods . For instance attracting customers is convenient for the business which describes its product uniqueness in advertisements than that of a business that produces similar products as everyone.
On the positive side, this trend can bring several benefits to businesses and customers . Businesses can increase there sales as advertising new fratures of the product can attract customers and encourage them to buy the product . furthermore, this helps to earn more profit because more customers buy the product which increase sales .For instance a smartphone company that introduces better quality cammera in phone may attract more customers, helps to increase sales .Another positive side is that customers can get better quality products as companies introduce new features to improve their products Such as an automobile business introduce the bike which covers maximum distance in less fuel As a result , business can increase their sales and buyers can get better quality products.
.In conclusion, businesses highlights the features of there products to increase sales and earn more profit.I beleive it is a positive development as it encourages businesses to reduce competition and rise sales . Moreover, customerers can get better quality goods .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you explain that businesses highlight novelty to reduce competition and attract buyers, and you clearly judge this as positive. The examples of a phone camera and a fuel-efficient bike help illustrate benefits to consumers. However, the explanation of why businesses do this is narrower than it could be, and several points repeat the idea of attracting customers, increasing sales and profit. The claim that customers receive “better quality products” is relevant but not fully explained; new features do not necessarily mean better quality. Develop the reasons with more precise explanation—for example, how novelty differentiates a brand or encourages consumers to choose it—and qualify your claims with specific support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph explaining the business motive, a paragraph on benefits, and a conclusion. The overall direction is understandable, and examples are placed near the points they support. However, progression within the body is weakened by repetition: sales and profit are mentioned several times without adding a distinct step to the argument. Connectors such as “Furthermore,” “For instance,” and “As a result” help, but some links are mechanical or unclear, and the final body paragraph runs several ideas together. Use clearer topic sentences and organise each paragraph around one main point, then explain and illustrate it before moving on.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “competition,” “unique goods,” “advertisements,” “features,” and “profit,” so the main ideas can be understood. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “customers,” “sales,” and “product.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “fratures,” “cammera,” “there products,” and “rise sales,” which reduce precision and sometimes make the phrasing awkward. Aim for more accurate collocations and a wider set of terms for the topic, such as “differentiate a product,” “gain a competitive advantage,” and “consumer demand.” Check spelling and word forms carefully during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause (“as they want to reduce competition”) and a result clause (“which increase sales”). The intended meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation occur often enough to affect fluency. For example, “one can reduce competition” has an unclear subject, while “a smartphone company … may attract more customers, helps to increase sales” combines verb forms incorrectly. There are also agreement errors in “businesses highlights” and “which increase sales,” and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. Practise building accurate sentences with one clear subject and correctly matched verbs, then proofread for articles and sentence boundaries.
