Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a positive view and include a relevant point that advertising can inform consumers about a product’s benefits. You also introduce a counterpoint about harm to businesses when products are poor quality, so the response touches on both the opinion and reasons. However, the task asks why businesses emphasise that products are new, and this motivation is not clearly explained; the discussion instead focuses mainly on advertising in general. The examples are vague, such as “advertising a new products in a large companies,” and the ideas are not sufficiently explained or supported. The response is also 245 words, five words below the required minimum; the nine words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop the reasons and use a specific example to address the question more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and several sentences repeat or do not connect logically. For example, the first body paragraph moves from identifying benefits to purchasing products and then to quality without clearly showing how these points relate. The second paragraph’s example is difficult to follow, and the conclusion largely repeats the opening position. Linking phrases are present but sometimes mechanical or inaccurately used. To improve, give each paragraph one clear main idea, explain it in a logical sequence, and use references and transitions that make the relationships between sentences explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “advertising,” “products,” “benefits,” “quality,” and “purchase,” which helps communicate the general topic. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “products” and “benefits.” Frequent spelling errors such as “benifits,” “negitive,” “adertising,” and “conclustion” make the writing less clear. Some choices are also inaccurate or unnatural, including “attract the usage,” “less quality products,” and “drastic quality.” These issues can strain the reader’s understanding. Build a more precise set of expressions for product innovation and consumer response, and check spelling and collocations carefully. For example, describe a product as “newly launched” and explain that advertising may “differentiate it from competitors.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the response includes basic connectors such as “because,” “such as,” and “while.” However, grammatical errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. Examples include “promoting a new product it helping a people,” where the verb form and sentence structure are faulty, and “people getting negitive impact,” which lacks a correctly formed verb phrase and article. There are also problems with agreement and sentence construction in “it leds to detect loss” and “their is an advertising businesses.” Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and unclear sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking articles, verb forms, and agreement in each sentence.
