Student answer (Band 5.0)
In recent years, business adverts often emphasise that their products are new from their competators. This essay will examine the main causes of this issues and suuggest possible solutions.
To begin with, one of the main reasons why businesses make this adverts is that to gain more customer and to promote their product. This is because of the significantly incresing competative in business. For example, lets look into a well know brand, Red Bull. In the initial time of the brand, they have marketed as " It gives wings". On 2011, a person from northern america, sued this company for not giving him wing after he drank. Everyone, including his family thought it was a mistake on suing a big company. As a result, later that year he got an compansation of 5 million US dollor. Therefore, it is clear that advertising products in a new way also comes with a cost.
Furthermore, another important point to consider is the positive side of better advertising. This is particularly significant because it attractes more customer especially in today's technological era. For instance, Rolls Royce. This cars are never been advertised and when this was asked to the CEO of the company he mentioned that people who buy this cars and not the one sitting and watching televison. Consequently, Rolls Royce yet to the date stays one of the most luxury car making company.
In conclusion, although there are positive and negative developments, I believe that making the business unique with strategical plannning is the more effective way of surviving the market for a very long time. This is maily because of the organic product and the benifits it delivers, which demonstrate the importance of what matters the most.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response identifies one reason businesses highlight novelty—attracting customers in a competitive market—and gives examples involving Red Bull and Rolls-Royce. However, it only partially answers the prompt. The Red Bull story focuses on a lawsuit and compensation rather than explaining why companies stress that products are new, while the Rolls-Royce example concerns advertising generally, not the promotion of new products. The opinion is also unclear: the conclusion refers to both positive and negative developments, then recommends being unique, without directly stating whether the trend itself is positive or negative. Develop the reasons more directly and make your evaluation explicit, supporting it with examples that clearly relate to product novelty.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The essay has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help show the intended structure. However, the progression between ideas is often unclear. The Red Bull example moves from a slogan to a lawsuit and compensation without explaining how this illustrates the appeal of new products. The Rolls-Royce paragraph shifts from “better advertising” to a claim that the company does not advertise, so its connection to the main argument is difficult to follow. Some linking phrases, including “As a result” and “Consequently,” imply relationships that are not fully established. Make each paragraph develop one clear point, and use transitions only when the logical connection is explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “advertising,” “products,” “competitive” and “compensation,” and attempts some less common expressions such as “technological era” and “strategical planning.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow: “competators,” “incresing,” “compansation” and “luxury car making company.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “make this adverts,” “new from their competitors” and “organic product” in the conclusion. Build accuracy with common collocations before reaching for more elaborate wording; for example, say “emphasise product innovation” or “gain a competitive advantage.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise terms would make the argument clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and complex sentences, using structures such as “This is because…” and “although there are positive and negative developments.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. Examples include “one of the main reasons … is that to gain,” “it attractes more customer,” and “This cars are never been advertised.” These show problems with clause construction, subject–verb agreement, plurals and verb forms. Articles and tense are also inconsistent, as in “On 2011” and “they have marketed.” Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. For instance, write “One reason businesses do this is to attract more customers” and “These cars have never been advertised.” Check each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
