Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the 21st century, companies often highlight in their advertisements that their products are new, improved, or different from existing products. I firmly believe that this trend is a beneficial development. The various reasons for my viewpoints are discussed further along with relevant examples.

Several factors combine to ensure that highlighting the x-factor of a specific products in an advertising is better than generic advertisement. The primary resaon for this claim is that it is beenficial to the business owners. This can be understood from businessmen's perspective as marketing about the unique feature of a particular product cold encourage people to purchase the product. This means that it will increase sales and boost profit, which helps a company to achieve significant growth. To illustrate this, there are multiple smartphone brand in the world and everyone wants to increase their sales. As a result, they make their smartphones more unique to they could stand out in a market and to encourage wider range of customer to purchase their smartphones. Therefore, this is a positive way to increase the sales of specific products.

Furthermore, choice availibility is another primary merit of this trend. In explanation, The customers have great options to purchase a specific product according to their usage. This is to say that one can get to know about the useful feature by advertising instead of buying a product which is made for the general users. For instance, there are multiple car brands, which target a specific type of customers using their marketing. To be more precise, Brands like Mercedes and Rolls Royce provide great comfort in their cars and companies like BMW and Porsche ensure great speed and road performance. This development give wider range of options to a customer for buying a specific type of car, which mainly depend upon their usage. Hence, consumers are getting great number choices in product, which makes it easy for them to purchase according to their requirements.

To conclude this disscussion, many believe that advertising only about the x-factor over other features is a bad practice and could have negative outcomes. However, my belief is that is it better for the business owners to increase their sales; and for consumers it eliminate the confusion by watching advertise of various products.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider the emphasis on novelty beneficial, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both the reasons for this advertising approach and whether it is positive, using relevant points about business sales and consumer choice. The smartphone and car examples help illustrate these ideas. However, the response focuses mainly on benefits and does not explain in much detail why businesses choose to emphasise novelty—for example, competition or attracting attention in a crowded market. Some claims, such as advertising eliminating consumer confusion, are asserted rather than fully explained. Develop the reasons behind the trend more explicitly and extend each example to show how it supports your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate benefits, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For instance,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples are generally placed where they support the relevant point. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in connecting ideas. However, several transitions feel mechanical, and some references are unclear: “this trend” and “this development” can refer to more than one idea. The conclusion also introduces an opposing view without developing it. Use more precise referencing and connect each example directly to the claim it illustrates to make progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “unique feature,” “boost profit,” “stand out,” “road performance,” and “according to their requirements.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and you attempt less common expressions such as “x-factor.” However, noticeable spelling errors (“resaon,” “availibility,” “disscussion”) and inaccurate or awkward word choices reduce precision. Phrases such as “highlighting the x-factor,” “a specific products,” and “great number choices” are not natural or correctly formed. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “product” and “purchase.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and collocations, and choose more precise terms such as “distinctive features” or “market differentiation” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which,” “as a result,” and “instead of.” Most of the argument remains understandable, and some sentences are controlled, such as “This means that it will increase sales and boost profit.” However, some grammatical errors occur in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “a specific products” has a number mismatch, “This development give” needs subject–verb agreement, and “it is beenficial” contains an incorrect verb form. The final sentence, “my belief is that is it better,” also has a faulty clause structure. Review agreement and article use, and proofread complex sentences to ensure their clauses are complete and correctly ordered.
