Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Now a days, many businesses claims that the product that they manufacture is change from all the other products that is in the market. This advertisiment benefit them and there sales become sky rocket. But in some cases it is a vice-versa that there sales drops to their lowest.

Some time claims made by the companies are true they made such a thing that is different from its competitors in the market. If they manufacture a inovative thing it can help them in there sales but also it is good for their reputation.

For example: In 2008 Apple introduce smart phone for the first time in history. Before Apple biggest mobile phone manufacturer are Nokia. As Apple claimed that there product is different there claim is true no other company at that time is manufacturing smart phone.

On the other hand, some companies claims are false there product is not new other companies are also manufacturing the same thing. These advertisiments are mostly made by filim related companies.

For example: A film is claiming that the scene that they are done is not be done by any one but on the same side the same scene is repeated by the other film as well.

In my opinion advertisiment is good thing for every company unless there claims about the product are true and it is also changed from its challenger. If it is not true then there advertisiment harm them and also destroys their reputation and assets of the company as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question: you suggest that businesses highlight novelty to increase sales and reputation, and you give a clear conditional view that this is positive when claims are true but harmful when they are false. The Apple example supports the first point, while the film example illustrates misleading claims. However, the reasons for emphasising newness are only briefly explained, and the discussion of negative effects is mostly asserted rather than developed with a specific consequence or example. The film example is also not clearly connected to product advertising. To strengthen the response, explain more fully why novelty attracts customers and develop the effects of deceptive claims, while keeping your position clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph about genuine innovation, a contrasting paragraph about false claims, and a concluding opinion. Signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In my opinion” help readers follow the contrast. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt: the opening moves quickly from increased sales to falling sales without explaining the relationship, and the examples are not always linked back to the main point. Some references, such as “there claim” and “the same scene,” are unclear. Use clearer topic sentences and follow each example with a sentence explaining what it demonstrates. This would make the organisation more consistently logical and the connections less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “competitors,” “innovative,” “reputation,” and “manufacturing,” and the reader can generally understand your main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make expression imprecise: “advertisiment,” “sales become sky rocket,” “vice-versa,” and “changed from its challenger” are not natural or accurate in context. Repetition of “claims,” “product,” and “different” also limits flexibility. Build a more precise set of phrases for innovation and advertising, and check spelling and common word partnerships. For example, describe a product as “distinct from competitors’ offerings” rather than saying it is “changed from” them.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “unless their claims about the product are true,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly with subject–verb agreement, tense, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “many businesses claims,” “Apple introduce,” and “the product … is change”; the sentence beginning “Before Apple biggest mobile phone manufacturer are Nokia” is also difficult to follow grammatically. Several clauses are joined without clear punctuation, and the final sentence contains an unclear structure. Practise accurate past-tense narration and agreement, then build longer sentences from correctly formed clauses. Greater control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to read.
