Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, businesses advertise their products focusing that their they are new in some way. This development have some advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, it is a positive development.

With advancement in almost every field of life, businesses are also trying to make their products more attractive. Prime purpose of developing this approach is to attarct customers. While buying products, customer is mainly focused on the product features, quality and material used in processing. Development of new features helps to target more customers. Having more audience helps the business to excel and gain significant profit. This approach not only helps to attract customers but also benefits the organisation itself. Continuous effort for innovation, launching new features and improving product quality helps an organisation to maintain market repute. It adds to the value of business and helps to improve profit percentage.

Considering the other side, there are some negative impacts as well. Investment is required to claim that the product has some innovation. Before altering the product, research and development is necessary which demands an organisation to hire skilled technical staff. Frequent changes in product can sometimes affect customers negatively. Some people donot accept change easily. They may stop buying that particular product which has been altered. Decline in product sale can result in business loss.

I personally believe that this approach is not suitable for a business. Rather than making frequent changes, business should focus on reliability of product by maintaining its quality. Its because a well-reputed product will keep attracting customers if its quality is same as of first production. Also, this helps customer to trust product and helps saving time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both why businesses highlight novelty and whether this is positive or negative, and you give relevant reasons such as attracting customers, improving reputation, and the costs of research and development. However, the position is not consistent: the introduction calls the development positive, while the final paragraph says it is “not suitable for a business” and recommends avoiding frequent changes. This makes your overall answer difficult to identify. Several points are also asserted rather than explained—for example, how new features improve product quality or why customers may reject altered products. State one clear view and develop it with a specific example or a fuller explanation of the consequences.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on drawbacks, and a conclusion. Ideas within the body paragraphs are generally grouped by topic, and transitions such as “Considering the other side” help signal a change in direction. However, the conclusion does not follow clearly from the introduction, because it reverses the stated positive view. Some links between claims are also abrupt: the discussion moves from attracting customers to business reputation and profit without showing the relationship in detail. Use a consistent position throughout and connect each reason to its result more explicitly. This would make the progression clearer and reduce the sense of a list of points.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “innovation,” “research and development,” “skilled technical staff,” and “market repute.” These choices allow you to discuss both commercial benefits and risks. There are, however, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions, such as “focusing that,” “Prime purpose,” “profit percentage,” and “same as of first production.” Spelling errors such as “attarct” and “donot” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural collocations and precise phrasing; for instance, businesses can “emphasise that a product is new,” and a product can “retain its original quality.” The meaning remains understandable, but more consistent control of word choice and spelling would strengthen the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses beginning “While buying products” and “Before altering the product,” as well as a conditional sentence about customers stopping purchases. Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “This development have” should be “This development has,” and “customer is mainly focused” needs an article or plural form. The opening sentence also contains a faulty construction: “focusing that their they are new.” There are further issues in “helps saving time” and “Its because,” where the sentence structure and punctuation need correction. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and clause construction, then proofread for sentence-level accuracy.
