Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both questions by suggesting that businesses advertise new products to attract customers and compete, and you give a relevant concern about junk food advertising affecting teenagers. However, the response only partially fulfils the task: the reasons are briefly stated rather than explained, and the positive-or-negative judgement is not clear. The conclusion calls the development both positive and negative without deciding which view you support, while the competition point is left undeveloped. The celebrity example is relevant but needs more explanation of how emphasising novelty influences buyers. The response is 51 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your ideas. Explain each reason with a specific consequence and state a clear overall position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
Your response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph presenting positive points, a contrasting paragraph, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “To commence with,” “Furthermore,” and “On the other hand” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression is limited because the second positive point is only one sentence, and the negative paragraph moves quickly from children to junk food without fully connecting the ideas. Some transitions feel mechanical, and the conclusion begins with “conclusion” rather than a complete linking phrase. Develop each paragraph around one main idea, explain it, and connect the example explicitly to the claim. This would make the overall progression clearer and reduce the sense of a list of points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “competition,” “features,” “celebrity,” and “affect their health,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear or natural, such as “Advertesment,” “costumers,” “positve,” and “vindication.” Some phrases are also awkward, including “gets the number of costumer” and “liked by the teenagers.” These errors are noticeable and occasionally make the reader work to understand your meaning. Build a more accurate set of topic phrases, such as “launch a product,” “highlight its novelty,” and “attract potential customers,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “if company launches a new product” and a sentence explaining that junk food “can affect their health.” However, the range remains limited, and errors in sentence construction and basic grammar occur frequently. For example, “This development have” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “the new product launched in market it gets” combines clauses without a clear grammatical connection. Articles and plural forms are also often missing or inconsistent, as in “the costumers” and “some new product.” Punctuation is sometimes faulty, particularly where sentences run together. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
