Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is usually seen in advertisements that companies try to promote their product by claiming some new features or unique technology. This is because of growing competition in market and modern consumer mindset. Considering the benefits of general public, I believe that it is a positive development.

The main reason to support this change is that it promotes technical development and and innovation. Due to increasing competition, each businesses have to develop a product with unique features. That assist to bring creativity out of people which is a positive sign of development. A mobile industry, for example, are now most demanding and valuable sector and to enter the market company have to bring something new, as a result, we now have advanced mobile phones with high speed network and variety of features.

Another compelling argument is that due to globalisation, people now have much more knowledge about culture and fashion trend in word wide. Not only possessional values but technical knowledge among people also have improved. These are the companion factors behind the need of emphasising a business product as a unique in some way to attract the modern population. On top of that, uniqueness in a product is one of the main feature that insist a person to purchase the product.

In conclusion, the growing market and globalisation with modern consumer mindset are main reasons for companies to advertise their products with unique features. I believe this is a positive development as it encourage innovation and creativity in businesses.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your response addresses both parts of the question: you explain why businesses highlight novelty, citing competition and globalisation, and state clearly that you see this as positive because it encourages innovation. The mobile-phone example gives relevant support, and the conclusion restates your position. This meets the task well overall, with some elements approaching fuller development. However, the globalisation paragraph is less clearly explained: the link between greater knowledge of culture and fashion and companies emphasising new features needs a more explicit explanation. The claim that uniqueness prompts purchases is also asserted rather than supported. Develop these points with a specific example or a clearer cause-and-effect explanation to make the argument more consistently convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing reasons, and a conclusion. Topic sentences such as “The main reason to support this change” and “Another compelling argument” help signal the progression, while “for example” introduces relevant support. The position remains consistent from the opening to the conclusion. Some connections, however, are mechanical or unclear. In the second body paragraph, the relationship between globalisation, knowledge of trends, and product novelty is not fully established, so the reader has to infer the reasoning. The phrase “On top of that” adds a point, but the link to the preceding explanation could be more precise. Use clearer cause-and-effect transitions and ensure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “competition,” “unique features,” “technical development,” “globalisation,” and “innovation.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision: “modern consumer mindset,” “possissional values,” “in word wide,” and “insist a person to purchase” are unclear or unnatural. “A product as a unique” also uses the wrong form. These issues do not prevent the reader from following your overall argument, but they limit the accuracy and flexibility of your vocabulary. Aim for natural collocations and check word forms; for example, use “consumer preferences,” “worldwide,” and “encourage someone to buy.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including cause-and-effect structures such as “Due to increasing competition…” and a concluding clause beginning “as it…”. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “each businesses have” should be “each business has,” and “That assist” should be “That assists.” In “A mobile industry… are,” the subject and verb do not agree; “a company have to bring” also needs singular agreement. There is a duplicated “and” in “development and and innovation,” and articles and plurals are sometimes inaccurate, as in “one of the main feature.” Review subject–verb agreement, article use, and sentence editing while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
