Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a clear opinion—“it is a positive development”—and give a relevant example involving Pepsi advertising on social media and in grocery stores. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it does not explain in enough detail why businesses stress that products are new, and the positive effects are asserted rather than developed. The example is also brief and does not show how this advertising influences consumers. The response contains 100 words, so it is 150 words short of the required minimum; 12 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen your answer, explain at least one business motive, such as attracting attention in a competitive market, then develop your view with a specific consequence and example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the topic, gives your opinion, and then offers an example. Words such as “Because” and “Example” signal an attempt to connect ideas. However, the ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the links between them are often difficult to follow. For instance, “When use new way that every one will read and share many ideal” does not clearly explain the connection between novelty and consumer response. The Pepsi example is introduced but not fully connected to your argument. Organise the answer into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for reasons and your opinion, and a conclusion; use clear linking phrases and explain how each example supports the point.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “products,” “advertising,” “social media,” “video,” and “picture,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and several word choices or spellings make meaning unclear, such as “new way,” “many ideal,” and “soicial media.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “I prefer that products.” This fits a response where vocabulary errors can strain the reader, even though the main topic remains recognisable. Build a more precise set of advertising terms, such as “promote,” “launch,” “attract consumers,” and “stand out from competitors,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to express an opinion and give reasons, and there are a few simple sentence patterns, such as “I think…” and “I prefer…”. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas hard to understand. Examples include “businesses make products is not esay,” which has an incorrect clause structure, and “When use new way,” which lacks a clear subject and correctly formed verb. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “the peppsi businesses they present.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then combine them with simple clauses using “because” and “when.” Check each sentence for a subject, a finite verb, and clear punctuation.
