Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, many advertisements emphasize that their products are new or improved. This is mainly because companies want to attract customers and increase their sales. in my opinion this is largely negative development , although it has some advantages. There are several reason why companines promote their products as new . firstly customers are often attracted to new things because they believe these products are more better then older ones. Secondly businesses face strong competition in the markets, so they use this startegy to encourage people to choose their products instead of those of other companies. For example skin care companies they start change their products logo and they start advertise like new one is more power instead from the old one but the actully game is here they just change the product packging not the products just attract to more buyers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify two relevant reasons for emphasising novelty—attracting customers and competing with other businesses—and you state a position that the trend is “largely negative,” while acknowledging advantages. The skincare example also begins to support your concern that “new” packaging may disguise an unchanged product. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the positive side is mentioned but not explained, and the negative judgement is not developed with clear consequences or a fuller example. The response is also 111 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to explain and support the ideas. Develop both sides as required, then make your position convincing through specific reasoning and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening states the topic and opinion, followed by reasons and an example. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Secondly” help signal the points. However, the response does not progress into a complete argument: the example runs on without a clear concluding point, and there is no developed paragraph explaining the negative effects or the advantages mentioned in the introduction. Some links are mechanical, and the long skincare sentence makes the relationship between changing a logo, advertising a product, and attracting buyers difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for the reasons and your evaluation, and connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “advertisements,” “attract customers,” “strong competition,” and “strategy,” so the main subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make parts of the example difficult to understand, such as “more power,” “the actully game,” and “product packging.” Some wording is also repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “new” and “products.” Aim for more precise phrases such as “more effective,” “the real issue,” and “product packaging,” and use vocabulary that describes the effects of advertising, such as “misleading claims” or “consumer trust.” Proofreading spelling and choosing natural collocations would make your meaning clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the opening communicates a clear general position. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “There are several reason” has a plural agreement error, while “customers … believe these products are more better then older ones” contains problems with comparison and sentence form. The skincare example is a run-on sentence with unclear clause boundaries, and sentence openings such as “in my opinion” need capitalisation. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea each, checking subject–verb agreement, articles, comparatives, and punctuation. Then add a few controlled complex sentences using “because,” “although,” or “which.”
