Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions: you explain that businesses promote products as new to attract customers and increase sales, and you indicate that the development has both benefits and drawbacks. However, the position is not fully clear: the introduction says it is “both positive or negative,” while the conclusion mainly identifies a negative effect without weighing the two sides. Several points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the link between new features and national economic growth is not developed, and the example about young people persuading parents is difficult to follow. To strengthen the response, state clearly which side you consider stronger and explain each main reason with a specific, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and phrases such as “To commence with” and “On the other hand” signal a change of direction. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear: the first body paragraph begins with reasons for advertising new products, then shifts to waste and financial difficulties, while the second moves from customer interest to company profits and national well-being without fully connecting these ideas. Linking expressions such as “as a result” and “therefore” are sometimes used where the cause-and-effect relationship is unclear. Develop one central point at a time, use pronouns with clear references, and make the conclusion directly reflect the position established in the introduction.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “attract customers,” “new features,” “unnecessary waste,” and “financial difficulties.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “advertisting,” “sales their increase,” “onlice shopping website,” and “financial independence” where the intended meaning appears to be that companies become financially successful. Repetition of “product,” “new,” and “companies” also limits precision. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for advertising and consumer behaviour, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you express the contrast between consumer benefits and excessive spending.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “features, which may encourage people to purchase,” and a conditional structure in “it may create financial difficulties.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. For example, “their product are new” has a number-agreement error, while “some companies offers” and “companies sales” use incorrect verb forms. Several sentences also begin with lowercase letters after full stops, and punctuation is inconsistent. Practise forming accurate subject–verb patterns and separating complete sentences; then add more varied structures while maintaining control.
