Student answer (Band 6.0)
These days, products are rendered as new in some way or the other by the business companies. This is due to the fact that they are always keen on new developments and they want fresh products and services. I believe it to be a positive development because it keeps the attention of them and provide better services and products for the customers due to the competitive nature of the market it creates.
Advertising a product as new and developed, makes the customers interested in the new product. Consumers are attracted through this strategy and it keeps them loyal to a company. Otherwise, customers may lose interest in a company's product which poses a potential threat to a company's annual revenue . One of the recent examples of this phenomenon is the Tesla company's announcing new flying cars. This is very crucial for companies because customers may lose interest in the company as they may believe a company's product as outdated.
Another positive impact of the businesses advertising their product as new contribute to the ever growing competition among many business institutions. As a result, new, cheaper and more developed products are available for the consumers which keeps them satisfied. For example, in fitness industry, companies always produce more better dietary supplements in order to overcome another company's product. Hence, the fitness enthusiasts benefits from their competition as they may enjoy the enhanced quality of the products.
In conclusion, business firms advertises products as new because it maintains the interest of the users. Furthermore, I believe it to be a positive development as it not only keeps the customers attracted but contribute to a better quality of production.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your response addresses both parts of the question: you explain that businesses promote products as new to retain customer interest and respond to competition, and you clearly judge this to be positive. The Tesla example and the fitness-supplement example make the discussion relevant. However, the reasons are not equally developed: the claim that novelty keeps customers loyal is asserted more than explained, and the Tesla example is not clearly connected to how advertising affects purchasing or revenue. The discussion of competition and improved products is more fully supported. To strengthen the response, explain the mechanisms behind each reason and make examples more precise, while maintaining your clear position throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and the conclusion restates the position. The progression from customer interest to market competition is easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “As a result” and “For example” help signal relationships. Some cohesion is mechanical, however, with repeated references to “new” products, customers, and companies. In places, connections between claims are not fully explicit—for instance, the Tesla announcement is introduced as an example but its relevance to customer loyalty could be explained more directly. Use clearer referencing and vary transitions so that links between evidence and the main point feel more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “competitive nature of the market,” “annual revenue,” “outdated,” and “enhanced quality.” This gives you enough range to discuss advertising and consumer behaviour, but several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “rendered as new,” “new and developed,” and “overcome another company’s product.” There is also repetition of “new,” “product,” and “company,” which limits flexibility. Aim to use more precise business and advertising language, and check that verbs naturally combine with their objects. For example, companies may “differentiate” or “promote” products rather than “render” them as new.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “as,” and the overall meaning remains understandable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction are noticeable. Examples include “it keeps the attention of them and provide,” “the fitness enthusiasts benefits,” and “business firms advertises”; these require consistent subject–verb agreement. The opening phrase “Advertising a product as new and developed, makes…” also has an unnecessary comma separating the subject from its verb. Some sentences become difficult to control when several ideas are joined together. Practise checking each clause for a clear subject and correctly matched verb, while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
