Student answer (Band 5.5)

These days most of the businesses claims that they have brought new varieties while advertising, this is because to attract customers attension. As far as i am concerned , it is a positive development beacause the market nowadays has become more competent.

To begin with, A good reason can be that the markets has become more competent and business companies has to attract cumtomers attension with new vareint with more and more facilities and for a business this is an important and a positive step, For instance, In pakistan there are many cmpanies advertising fans in summer seasons, each company try to advertise the new and latest varients of fans but the AFC company last year launched energy saving and environment friendly fans which attracted more customers. Another reason is that customers can have multiple options to choose according to their budget.

Furthermore, Another reason is that for a business to remain according to the demands of individuals they must bring some changes in their products, moreover they can showcase their products in new way in order to maintain their reputation and standards. For instance some businesses offer seasonal discounts on their products which is a good initiative for their sale.

To sum up, These days businesses are in competetion with each other and they claim and emphasise in their advertisement that their products have some new changes in order to compete with other businesses, In my opinion this a positive initiative for business to do and reamain in competition with others.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you explain that businesses highlight novelty to attract customers and compete, and you clearly regard this as positive. The fan example gives a relevant illustration of how a new feature—energy saving—can appeal to buyers, while the point about offering customers choices also supports your view. However, the reasons are not developed equally. The discussion of seasonal discounts is only loosely connected to emphasising that a product is new, and the benefits of novelty for consumers or businesses could be explained more fully. To strengthen the response, clarify why novelty-focused advertising is effective and consider a limitation or explain more specifically how it benefits customers and competition.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The main ideas generally progress from attracting customers to adapting products and maintaining a business’s reputation. You also use signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore” and “To sum up.” However, these transitions sometimes feel mechanical, and “Another reason” is repeated without making the relationship between points especially clear. The seasonal-discount example interrupts the focus on product changes, while the conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing the reasons together. Use clearer links between each claim and its example, and organise each paragraph around one central point to make the progression more convincing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “advertising,” “customers,” “energy saving,” “environment friendly” and “reputation.” These choices make the general meaning understandable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “attension,” “vareint,” “competetion” and “competent” where “competitive” is intended. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “new varieties” and “remain according to the demands of individuals.” These issues reduce precision and can make the reader pause. Build a more accurate set of expressions for product innovation and market competition, and check spelling carefully. More precise collocations would help you express your ideas without relying on repeated words such as “new” and “business.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “Furthermore” and a clause explaining that companies change products to meet customer demands. The overall meaning is usually clear, but some errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and punctuation remain. For example, “most of the businesses claims” should use a plural verb, and “the markets has become” has the same agreement problem. The opening sentence also has an awkward construction (“this is because to attract”), while several long sentences are joined with commas, making their structure difficult to follow. Practise building accurate complex sentences with clear clause boundaries, and check subject–verb agreement and capitalisation when editing.
