Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the modern world, nowadays businesses are advertising more about their products that they are new in some way. I think this is a negative development because this cause waste of money for plenty of people.
Business companies perform this act for plenty of reasons. Firstly, consumers are more attractive towards the new things because they thinks new will work more better in comparison to the old one. For example, new phone models have improved processing system, better camera quility and shape. Moreover, they have introduce new items because in businesses competition is to high. Thus, they need a advertising strategies to introduce new items.
On the one hand, this trend can have positive effects by introducing new kind of technology. Masses should have awareness about the new technology and this all is possible when the brand will advertise their new items. For instance, new washing machines uses less water and electricity in comparison with old washing machines.
On the other hand, this trend is not beneficial for every person. Advertising new items in business could have bad impacts on human behavior. Like Apple company introduces their new phone models every year and advertise new models which results in a wastage of money. Furthermore, just few feathers and shapes are seen changed but there prices are so high by this little changes. These type of new business advertisements can cause mentally problems when they cannot buy them.
To sum up, advertising new in businesses have more negative effects of the life of people. While, there positive points are less because advertising new and increasing prices can cause harmful impact of economy

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the question: you explain that businesses promote novelty to attract consumers and compete, and you give a clear view that the trend is negative overall. The examples of improved phone features and water-saving washing machines are relevant, while the Apple example supports your concern about repeated purchases and high prices. This covers the task well and shows some development beyond simply stating an opinion. However, the reasons for businesses’ behaviour are less fully explained than the negative effects, and the claim that advertising can cause “mentally problems” is not clarified or supported. To strengthen the response further, explain how novelty-focused advertising influences buying decisions and develop the economic or personal consequences with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on businesses’ motives, a positive-effects paragraph, a negative-effects paragraph, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use signposts such as “Firstly,” “On the one hand,” and “On the other hand.” However, some links feel mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is occasionally unclear. For example, “Thus, they need a advertising strategies to introduce new items” repeats the preceding point rather than showing precisely how competition leads to advertising. The conclusion’s “While” clause is also not smoothly connected to the main statement. Use clearer references and transitions, and make each paragraph’s ideas build on one another rather than relying mainly on formulaic markers.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “consumers,” “competition,” “processing system,” and “wastage of money,” so the reader can understand the general argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural: “consumers are more attractive towards” should describe consumers being attracted to products, and “new kind of technology” is vague. There are also spelling errors such as “quility,” and imprecise expressions such as “few feathers and shapes” obscure your point about small design changes. Aim to use more precise language for advertising and consumer behaviour, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“because this cause waste of money”) and a contrast between positive and negative effects. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “consumers … they thinks” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “new washing machines uses” and “they have introduce” show problems with verb forms and agreement. The final sentence beginning “While” is not a complete, well-connected construction. These errors do not prevent the reader from following the main argument, but they reduce clarity and accuracy. Practise checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and use complex clauses only when you can control their structure.
