Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear opinion that this is a negative development and offer two relevant reasons: advertising can encourage people to spend on unnecessary products, and competitors may copy this marketing approach. However, the task asks both why businesses emphasise novelty and whether this is positive or negative. The reasons mainly describe effects on consumers and other businesses; explain more directly that companies use novelty to attract attention, differentiate products, and increase sales. The example about young people spending their monthly income is relevant but general and not fully developed. Your conclusion repeats the main points rather than adding support. The response is also 10 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to develop the ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning with “To begin with” and “Furthermore,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify your two main reasons, and the ideas generally remain connected to the topic. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the first body paragraph moves from digital advertising to sales techniques and then to wasted money without clearly linking each step. The conclusion introduces newspapers, which have not been discussed in the body. Some linking phrases, such as “For them,” have an unclear reference. Develop each paragraph around one central point and use clearer links between cause, example, and consequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “innovative,” “consumers,” “marketing strategy,” and “captivates attention,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, sometimes making the meaning less clear. Examples include “showing off their products in market,” “useless staff,” and “new through social media”; these do not express your intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors such as “montlhly” and “waster” also affect accuracy. Aim to use precise advertising vocabulary and check spelling and word forms. Replacing repeated general terms such as “things” and “products” with suitable alternatives would also make the argument more specific.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a reason clause in “since nowadays, the world is increasingly digital” and a result expressed with “This leads to…”. However, the range is limited, and errors are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent: “businesses… attracts” and “what attract these youngster” need matching subjects and verbs. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also often faulty, as in the opening, where several sentences run together without capital letters or spaces. Articles and plural forms are sometimes missing or incorrect. Practise building accurate sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “which,” and “as a result.”
