Student answer (Band 5.5)

Most businesses represents thier products being developed with new features while advertising. This essay intends to discuss the reasons of this phenomenon and the benefits and drawbacks of this development.

To begin with, the main reasons of businesses advertising that thier products are new might be to attract more customers to sell their products in a massive extent which will definitely benefit the business's growth and economy.Another reason could be to stand out among all their competitive brands, rival departments or start-ups.Representing a development in the features of products should drastically increase the popularity of the business.

On the one hand, there are several positive impacts of the idea of advertisements made by sellers or merchants representing their new product features.Firstly,it helps the consumers to be familier with the new uses of technology and goods,it keeps them updated about the changes made by the company in thier products.Secondly,it positively affects the economy of the business which helps it to create more employment opportunities for people.

However, sometimes it can be a great loss to consumers as there are chances for a company to present their products being updated with just a slight or little change which can attract the users to stop being satisfied with their in service products and to buy the new ones.If people buy the products which is not relevent to the features shown in the advertisement,it might discourage them to appear in the same company leading to a negative impact on the seller.

To conclude, both positive and negative impacts can be considered based on the accuracy of the sold products and the represented ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions by giving reasons for the emphasis on novelty and discussing positive and negative effects. The reasons—attracting customers and distinguishing a business from competitors—are relevant, and you take a balanced position in the conclusion. However, the response does not make a clear overall judgement on whether this is positive or negative; saying that the effects depend on product accuracy leaves the central question unresolved. Several points are also asserted rather than explained, such as the claim that product updates create employment. Develop fewer ideas with a specific example, and state directly which side you consider stronger.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “On the one hand,” and “However” helps readers follow the main stages. Cohesion is sometimes mechanical, though, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, the move from consumers learning about technology to employment opportunities is abrupt, while “the same company” in the final body paragraph has an unclear reference. Use transitions that show the precise relationship between points, and connect each supporting sentence more explicitly to its paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “attract more customers,” “competitive brands,” “employment opportunities,” and “negative impact,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “sell their products in a massive extent,” “familier with,” and “in service products.” Spelling errors, including “thier,” “relevent,” and “familier,” further reduce control. Aim for precise, natural collocations—for example, “increase sales substantially” and “existing products”—and proofread spelling. This would make your vocabulary more reliable and help express the argument clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional construction (“If people buy the products…”) and clauses explaining reasons. However, errors in agreement, articles, sentence construction, and punctuation are frequent enough to affect fluency. For example, “Most businesses represents” has subject–verb disagreement, and “the products which is” has a plural subject with a singular verb. The opening sentence also lacks clear sentence boundaries and spacing after commas. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, consistent singular or plural forms, and correct punctuation. Building accurate complex sentences before adding further complexity will improve control.
