Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify one relevant reason for highlighting novelty: businesses face intense competition and want their products to stand out. You also indicate that the development has both positive and negative effects, but you do not explain either side or make a clear judgement about whether it is positive or negative. The response therefore addresses the prompt only minimally, with the main ideas left undeveloped. The required minimum length is not met, so there is not enough writing to answer both questions with reasons and relevant examples. To improve, explain why novelty appeals to consumers, discuss specific benefits and drawbacks, and state your overall view clearly, supporting each point with an example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic overall shape: an opening introduces the topic and a following paragraph begins to explain why businesses promote new products. The transition “Firstly” also signals the start of a reason. However, the discussion stops before this point is developed, and there is no progression to the question about whether the trend is positive or negative. The opening’s reference to “both positive and negative impact” is not followed by supporting paragraphs, so the reader cannot see how the ideas connect or which view is being advanced. Develop a clear sequence—reasons, evaluation, and conclusion—and use paragraphing and linking phrases to show how each point relates to your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “advertising,” “products,” “intense competition,” and “survive the market,” which makes the subject recognisable. However, the range is narrow because the response is very brief, and several spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy: “serveral,” “audince,” “compition,” and “compititor's.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “represents their products as new in some way towards audience” and “different from competitor's products.” Aim for precise, natural collocations such as “promote products as innovative,” “appeal to consumers,” and “differentiate their products from competitors.” Proofreading spelling and choosing more idiomatic phrases would make your meaning clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both a longer opening sentence and a reason introduced with “Firstly,” so there is some sentence variety. However, control is inconsistent. In “businesses represents,” the plural subject requires a plural verb; “it have” also has an agreement error, and “their products is different” should use a plural verb. Articles are missing in phrases such as “make product more unique” and “survive the market.” The sentence beginning “Firstly businesses face…” also needs punctuation after the introductory linker. These errors do not make the general topic impossible to understand, but they occur in a short response and limit accuracy. Practise subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation, then check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
