Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the advertisment now-e-days mostly company emphasise that their products are new in some way from other company to get the customers attention so that why they should buy their product instead of their regular one or the one which is already in use.

The advertisement are use to create the hype and build the brand amond people as if new brand enters the market they have to be different from other brands already existing to survive among them.

Some of the advertisement create the negative impact which this kind of strategy by defaming their competitor or spreading false imformation to get more sales which is unethical.

Meanwhile the other advertisment which compare their product with other brands and market themselves as better one they just talk about their own claims and what they have to offer rather than trying to leg pulling other they do it in the most ethical way.

The example of the advertisment which claims their product are different in ways than others are enomerous but heres the one i would like to mention here:

Nike and Adidas both are the multinational brands and they both have huge customer range and some of the customers are buyers of both the companies but these company they advertise their product being different from each other in style comfort and affordability but they both never mock eachother both advertise just about themselves their own features and what they got to offer their customers

The advertisment is the major mean of creating awareness so these should be public friendly and ethical in all possible ways

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question: you suggest that businesses highlight novelty to attract customers and distinguish themselves, and you express a preference for ethical advertising. The Nike and Adidas example is relevant and helps illustrate your point about brands presenting their own features without attacking competitors. However, the reasons for emphasising newness are only briefly explained, and the response does not clearly state whether this overall trend is positive or negative. The discussion shifts instead to ethical versus unethical advertising, which is related but not quite the same issue. Develop a direct position on the trend and explain its effects on consumers or businesses, using the example to support that argument more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable sequence: it introduces the purpose of advertising, discusses ethical and unethical approaches, gives a brand example, and ends with a general recommendation. This provides some overall organisation. However, the progression is not consistently clear because the discussion moves from why products are presented as new to whether companies criticise competitors, without explaining the connection. Several ideas are crowded into long sentences, and transitions such as “Meanwhile” do not fully clarify the relationship between points. Paragraphing is also limited, making the example and conclusion feel attached to the preceding discussion. Use separate paragraphs for the reasons, your evaluation, and the example, and make each transition show how the next point supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “customers,” “brand,” “market,” “competitor,” and “ethical,” and phrases such as “create the hype” show an attempt to express ideas beyond very basic language. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear: “leg pulling other” and “huge customer range” are examples. Spelling errors such as “advertisment,” “imformation,” and “enomerous” are noticeable, while repeated use of “advertisement” and “product” limits variety. Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe a brand as “differentiate itself” and refer to its “customer base” rather than its “customer range.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a conditional clause in “if new brand enters the market” and a contrast introduced by “Meanwhile.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries occur frequently enough to make parts difficult to follow. For example, “The advertisement are use” has problems with both agreement and verb form, while “these company they advertise” has an unclear subject structure. The opening sentence also runs several ideas together without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add a subordinate clause only when its relationship is clear. Check singular/plural agreement, articles, and verb forms during revision.
