Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the recent years, a lot of companies show in their advertising that their products are new. I believe that it is a partially positive development due to their profits, but still has some limitations. In this essay reasons will be disscused in detail to elaborate both positive and negative sides.
The main reason why businesses make this marketing plan is that their direct target always to gain more money by selling a large number of their products. As a result, they try to attract customers toward new ideas which make them wondering if these products are actually new?. Since there is no way to make them sure from their question except purchasing these products which will positively reflect on the company profit.
On the other side, this advertising may has a negative development and can lead to loss of the credibility and transparence of the businesses. For instance, if one company said that it has new products will be introduced to markets on the next friday, when people went to buy these products, they found it almost the same of the old ones with slightly difference in their shap. In this case it is predicted that they wouldn't trust in this company again and they never use their products any more. so, the final result will decrease the company sales, which make the negative development clear .
In conclusion, Advertising of new products consider a double-edged weapon, which have both positive and negative development. So, i believe that, in general it is a partially positive development for businesses.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions: you explain that businesses highlight novelty to attract buyers and increase profits, then discuss the risk that exaggerated claims can damage trust. Your example of customers finding a supposedly new product almost unchanged from the old one supports the negative side. However, the position is not fully consistent: you call the development “partially positive” but give more detail to the possible harm, without clearly explaining why the benefits outweigh it overall. The reason for emphasising novelty is also quite briefly developed. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how novelty appeals to consumers and give a clearer judgement about whether this practice is positive or negative overall.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the business motive and the potential drawback, and a conclusion. The progression from attracting customers to the risk of losing their trust is easy to follow, and signposts such as “As a result,” “On the other side,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, some linking is mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the introduction rather than drawing together the two arguments. The reference in “these products” and “their question” is also not entirely clear. Use transitions more selectively and make the relationship between each claim and its explanation explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “advertising,” “target,” “credibility,” and “company sales.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “double-edged weapon,” although this is less natural than “double-edged sword.” At this level, however, noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems sometimes make the writing less precise. Examples include “make them wondering,” “the same of the old ones,” “transparence,” and “shap”; “new ideas” is also vague when referring to product features. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling, and choose precise terms such as “novel features” or “different from the previous model” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“why businesses make this marketing plan”) and a conditional example beginning “if one company said…”. The main message remains understandable, but some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For example, “this advertising may has” should use the base verb after “may,” while “their direct target always to gain” is missing a finite verb. The conditional sentence shifts awkwardly between “said” and “when people went,” and the question mark in “new?” is not appropriate within the sentence. Practise checking each clause for a subject and correctly formed verb, and use punctuation to separate complete sentences.
