Student answer (Band 5.5)

In most of the advertising the businesess nowadyas usually emphasizes that their products are new in some way. They make it look like a new technology and new features they are providing which was never given before.

Nowadays world has become a global village and every buisness is converting itself into a high tech industry while giving multiple new features in their products and new looking to make them more attractive. People also like to buy new products and use new techonolgies for household products or vehicles with new models.

This stratgey has given really great benefits to businesses and given them more publicity across the world. Now people mind has been changed as how they shop the products to use in daily life compare to old a few years back. Before people used to check the product quality while purchasing from the market. But now people check the techonology used in new products their look and the functions used in them. People's way of purchasing products has been really changed in recent years.

There are both outcomes in this positive and negetive in their own ways. Products are coming with new technologies and features wich make them easy to use and compatibility with multiple environments. It is a positive development to be considered.

The new products are coming with light weight and better look but their quality has been decreased and not able to use for long term. These new products quality is very low compared to old products. So this is the worse outcome of businesses and to be considered a negetive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: you suggest that businesses highlight new technology and features to attract buyers and gain publicity, and you give both positive and negative effects. The view that innovation can make products easier to use is relevant, as is the concern that newer goods may be less durable. However, the reasons for the advertising emphasis are only briefly explained, and the positive/negative discussion is not developed with specific examples or clear supporting detail. Your overall position is also somewhat uncertain: you call the development positive, then conclude that poor quality is a negative outcome without stating which side you consider stronger. To improve, explain the causes more fully and make your final judgement explicit, supported by a concrete example. The response meets the stated length requirement; the eight words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to reasons, then benefits and drawbacks. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and basic links such as “But now” and “So” show relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive: the discussion of changing purchasing habits repeats that people now focus on technology, appearance and functions without clearly extending the point. The transition “There are both outcomes in this positive and negetive in their own ways” is unclear, and the final paragraph does not connect the durability concern to a definite overall conclusion. Organise each body paragraph around one main point, develop it with an explanation or example, and use clearer transitions between the causes and your evaluation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “technology,” “features,” “publicity,” “quality” and “purchasing,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “new looking,” “multiple environments” and “the worse outcome.” Repetition of “new products,” “features” and “technology” also limits flexibility. Spelling errors—including “businesess,” “nowadyas,” “techonolgies” and “negetive”—are noticeable and weaken the accuracy of the vocabulary. Build a wider set of precise terms for advertising and product quality, and check spelling carefully. More natural collocations would make your points clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the reader can usually follow the main message. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles and verb forms. For example, “They make it look like a new technology and new features they are providing” is not a complete, well-formed construction, while “every buisness is converting itself” has an agreement problem with the intended plural meaning. In “People's way of purchasing products has been really changed,” the verb form is awkward, and several sentences join ideas without clear grammatical links. Practise building accurate complex sentences with clauses such as “because” and “although,” and check subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries during revision.
