Student answer (Band 6.5)
In todays world, businesses focus in showcasing the unique factor of their product through their marketing tactics. The ads entirely emphasis on the point that the product is new with some innovations. In this essay, we will highlight the positive and negative sides of the story related to this trend.
With the innovation of electronic media, the tech giants have revolutionzed their businesses. They have entered into the race to define that they offer the most unique product which is new in the market. This helps to attract and filter out their target audiance who are more concerned to buy the latest creations. For example, ABC wallet comes up with the idea of tap and pay, which was not offered by anyone before. The feature was new and less known in the market, they showcase this feature in their ads. This ultimately boosts their sales and results in the promoition of their business in the entire nation.
In additon to this, it also has some negative insights. People are smart enough to differentiate in the false marketing tactics. They no longer gets trapped in these fake stunts to impress them. I witnessed a case where a food delivery company claimed to launch a new feature, which gives cashback on every 10th order. They spent a hefty amount in the marketing, but their product doesn't catch anyones attention since the feature was already available in other apps. The false claims ended up in affecting the reputation of the organization, rather than boosting their sales.
In conclusion to this, the promotion of the product is the need of the society. In the world full of advertisement, it is hard to survive for a business without marketing their product. I persume that rather than sugar coating the fake details which doesn't even exist, they should focus on highlighting the real features.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the question: the explanation that businesses promote novelty to attract customers and increase sales, and the view that misleading claims can damage a company’s reputation. Your examples—the tap-and-pay wallet and the food-delivery cashback feature—make the discussion relevant, and your conclusion gives a clear recommendation to highlight genuine features. The response therefore covers the task well overall. However, the reasons for emphasising newness are not explored equally: the first example mainly illustrates sales promotion, while the essay could explain more directly why novelty is especially persuasive to consumers, such as its appeal to convenience or status. The negative point is also focused on false claims rather than the broader effects of novelty-led advertising. Developing these ideas further would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to a positive explanation, a contrasting negative example, and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the main points, and linking expressions such as “For example,” “In addition to this,” and “In conclusion” signal the stages of the argument. This gives the response a coherent progression. Some connections are less natural or precise, however: “In this essay, we will highlight the positive and negative sides” announces a plan that the conclusion does not fully resolve into a direct positive-or-negative judgement. Phrases such as “In conclusion to this” and “This ultimately” also feel formulaic, and “they” in the final paragraph could refer either to businesses or products. Use more direct transitions and clearer referencing to make cohesion less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “target audience,” “innovations,” “marketing tactics,” “cashback,” and “reputation.” These choices help communicate the examples and show an attempt to use topic-specific language. There are also several inaccurate or unnatural choices that limit precision: “focus in showcasing” is an awkward collocation, “filter out their target audience” does not express the intended idea, and “negative insights” is not a natural way to introduce disadvantages. Spelling errors such as “revolutionzed,” “audiance,” and “persume” are noticeable, although the intended meaning is generally clear. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a feature, which gives cashback” and a contrast structure with “rather than.” Most ideas remain understandable, and the paragraphing gives you opportunities to vary sentence patterns. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with agreement and verb forms: “People … no longer gets” should use a plural verb, and “their product doesn't catch” shifts awkwardly from the past-tense example to the present. There are also issues with articles and sentence construction, as in “the feature was new and less known in the market, they showcase this feature,” which joins two independent clauses with a comma. Review subject–verb agreement, tense consistency, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use complex structures.
