Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, new business products are gaining popularity. Although it offers several benefits, It also has some drawbacks. This essay will discuss both the positive and negative development of new business products.
On the one hand, advertising new business products bring some advantages. It is not only make public curious about the product but also forces them to have one. The main reason is that, In advertising businesses show their new products in a very strategic way. They show the positive side of their products with extra advantages which persuade people to buy that. For example, If a business sells a pair of shoe, In our country many people selling the same product. But business will explain their customers that it's not only a shoe. Firstly, it is comfotable, secondly, it is waterproof and finally it is pocket friendly you can keep this in your pocket and take it anywhere. Therefore, It is understandable why some peope support this view.
On the other hand, It has some drawbacks. At times, businesses misrepresent their products. They usually misguide the public with the products's advantages, just to increase their sales. They also spread wrong information about their product through advertisment, which mislead the people and create a problems in society.
For instance, If some company or business, selling a phone. First they tell people it is waterproof you can use it in underwater. But when people buy a phone and test it underwater, they suffer a loss. This is how sometimes, businesses mislead the public with wrong information about their products.
In conclusion, businesses emphasise that their products are new to attract customers and increase sales. While it has some benefits, I think it is mostly negative because it misleads customers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions: the essay gives reasons for highlighting novelty, including attracting customers and increasing sales, and concludes that this is mostly negative because advertising can mislead buyers. The shoe and phone examples make the discussion relevant, particularly the claim that a phone advertised as waterproof may fail underwater. However, the explanation of why businesses stress that products are new is less fully developed than the discussion of misleading claims; the shoe example focuses more on features than on novelty itself. Your position is clear in the conclusion, but it would be stronger if stated directly in the introduction and maintained consistently. Develop the reasons for emphasising newness, such as standing out in a competitive market or encouraging repeat purchases, and explain your examples more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The progression from advantages to drawbacks is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help the reader navigate the argument. This organisation is effective, while some linking is mechanical or unclear. For example, “Therefore, it is understandable why some people support this view” does not specify which view, and the sequence “Firstly… secondly… finally” makes the shoe example feel like a list rather than a developed explanation. To strengthen cohesion, use clearer references and connect each example explicitly to the point about advertising products as new. Vary transitions so that relationships between ideas are expressed naturally, not only through formulaic signposting.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “misrepresent,” “misguide,” “waterproof,” “attract customers,” and “increase sales.” These choices help communicate the central ideas, and there is some attempt to use more specific language than basic everyday terms. However, the range is limited by repeated use of “products,” “businesses,” and “people,” while several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “forces them to have one,” “extra advantages,” and “create a problems.” Spelling errors, including “comfotable,” “peope,” and “advertisment,” also reduce precision. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for advertising and consumer behaviour, and check spelling carefully. Prefer precise expressions such as “encourages consumers to buy” and “highlight distinctive features.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause in “Although it offers several benefits” and a conditional example beginning “If some company or business…”. The main ideas remain understandable, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors occur in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. Examples include “It is not only make public curious,” “advertising new business products bring,” and “it is not only a shoe,” where the verb form or agreement is faulty. Some sentences also run together, as in “it is waterproof you can use it in underwater.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and separate independent clauses with appropriate punctuation or conjunctions. More reliable control of these structures would make your argument clearer.
