Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, many companies highlights their products through advertisements and encourage the people to purchase their products which are in new categories.I believe this is positive development, although it can sometimes mislead customers.
In the modern era, the Ads play a vital role in our daily life.We mostly see different kinds of ads on different social media Apps. For example, some businesses promotes their products through advertising they show various things about their products and tell us how to use it and what are the benefits of these products because in market their are competition and they wanted to attract the customers towards their products. However, some people believe that advertising products are very usefull for everyone because different companies launch various kinds of products that brings many advantages. Furthermore, it brings a positive development because through ads they grow their businesses in easier way and get a lot of opportunities to grow their businesses in a suitable way because many people believe the products are in advances like Apple company launch new iphone every year.
On the other hand, some argue that advertising is somehow harmful for community because most of the people believe that the products are original and they believe on ads and just waste your time on watching the ads. For instance, nowadays many people make fake businesses ads and sell their products which are fake and in a very bad quality. In addition, mostly people do not believe on ads and do not purchase products.
In conclusion, this is the positive development because you can buy anything easily through different ads but companies should remain honest about their products while, it has a negative aspects because some products are fake and in very bad quality.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear overall view that emphasising novelty is positive, while acknowledging that misleading or fake advertising can be harmful. You also offer relevant reasons, including competition between businesses, opportunities for growth, and the example of Apple releasing a new iPhone each year. However, the response only partly explains why companies stress that products are new: the point about attracting customers is present, but it could be developed by explaining how novelty creates interest or distinguishes a product from competitors. The negative side also shifts from misleading claims to people wasting time and not trusting advertisements, without fully connecting these points to the question. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation and a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting positive and negative points, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Furthermore,” and “On the other hand” help signal changes in direction. However, progression within the body paragraphs is uneven: the first moves from social media ads to competition, product benefits, business growth, and Apple without clearly showing how each point connects. Some references are also unclear, as in “they show various things” and “it brings a positive development.” The conclusion repeats the main ideas rather than drawing them together. Group related points and use clearer references to make the argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “advertisements,” “competition,” “attract the customers,” “fake businesses,” and “product quality.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “products,” “ads,” and “businesses.” Some choices are imprecise or unnatural, such as “products are in new categories,” “in advances,” and “believe on ads,” which can make the intended meaning less clear. Spelling errors such as “usefull” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise language about product innovation and consumer response, and check common collocations. For example, describe a product as “newly launched” or “innovative,” rather than saying it is “in advances.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “although,” but complex sentences are often difficult to control. Errors occur in subject–verb agreement (“many companies highlights,” “some businesses promotes”), articles and plurals (“this is positive development”), and sentence boundaries, as in “daily life.We mostly see.” There are also faulty clause structures, such as “because in market their are competition,” and unclear pronoun agreement in “tell us how to use it.” These errors recur and sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the sentence. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea and a clearly attached supporting clause, then check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
