Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's rapidly changing world, role of advertisment in business growth is a matter of considerable debate. In this era, while doing advertisment of their products businesses highlight that their products are unique from other products in the market. In this essay, I will explain reason behind this development and why I believe this is a positive development.

One of the primary reasons for this development is that businesses want to attract customers. This is because when they advertise their product by fousing on its unqiue aspect more people will be interested. As a result, number of their sales will increase. For instance, Saeed Ghani is a pakistani skincare brand and while promoting their products they emphasise on their 100% chemical free composition. Therefore, people who prefer to buy only organic products will be intrested. Therefore, it is evident that by focusing on unique aspect of their products companies can attract more customers and their sales number will increase which will eventually leads to the growth of business.

One of the main reasons I consider this a positive development is that it attracts right type of customers. This is because some people are concerned about various aspects of a product. For example, some people prefer to buy organic skin products. By promoting that side of their products business can attract right people. Secondly, it gives businesses a chance to beat their competitors. Most of the time, different companies are manufacturing same product. That's why by promoting the unique side of their product such as particular method they are using, they can stand out in market.

In conclusion, I believe businesses are using this strategy to attract customers and this is a positive development because it attracts right type of customers and helps business to compete other companies selling the same product.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: you explain that businesses stress novelty or distinctive features to attract customers and increase sales, and you clearly judge this as positive. The Saeed Ghani example supports the explanation, while the points about reaching customers with particular preferences and standing out from competitors are relevant. This gives the response a clear, consistent position. However, the reasons overlap, and the positive effects are asserted more than explored: for example, you could explain how highlighting a genuinely new feature helps consumers make informed choices, or acknowledge that novelty claims can sometimes be misleading. Developing the examples and examining the effects more fully would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the reason and your evaluation, and a conclusion that restates your position. Ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and examples are placed alongside the points they support. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical. “This is because” and “Therefore” recur, and the first body paragraph repeats the link between unique features, customer interest and increased sales. The second paragraph also moves from attracting the right customers to competition without fully explaining the connection. Use a wider range of linking methods, reduce repeated conclusions, and make the relationship between each claim and its supporting explanation more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “attract customers,” “organic products,” “competitors” and “stand out,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “100% chemical free composition.” However, the range and control are uneven, with repeated general terms such as “product,” “business” and “unique,” and several inaccurate or awkward choices. For example, “right type of customers” is less natural than “the right target audience,” while “sales number” does not express the idea idiomatically. Spelling errors such as “advertisment,” “fousing” and “intrested” are noticeable. More precise collocations and careful proofreading would strengthen the vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional and cause-and-effect structures such as “when they advertise their product…” and “because it attracts right type of customers.” The overall meaning is usually clear, and the response is organised into complete sentences. However, some grammatical errors remain in articles, agreement and verb forms. Examples include “role of advertisment” (missing an article), “number of their sales will increase” (missing “the”), and “which will eventually leads” (the verb should agree with “which”). In “businesses are manufacturing same product,” an article is also needed. Continue practising accurate article use and subject–verb agreement, and check longer sentences carefully while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
