Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

Businesses tend to advertisie their product in a way that could be missleading by emphasising that their product is a new in a particular way.

I think that doing false advertisiment is wrong espacially if the product that you're promoting is not the real offer.

If a company is marketing the product as a new things and that's the main reason why, some companies lies about it, make customers turn their head in the procuss to buy their product, but it is an indicator that they are desperater to get some easy sells. It's really questionable why they tend to do this, if they have a good product they could just promote it as that not lie or just say things to generate clicks, without making a really big deal about it and with a good marketing campain truthfullness will get you to the finish line faster for example i always tend to avoid scoial madia and online advertising in genral because of how missleading it could be and how it's sometimes turn into scamming when buying from these businesses.

Advertisiment this way by saying that their products are new in some way misleading if not true. Lying about what you're selling and making it seem like it's the big new thing is harmfull for the people that actually invested money on the item,It's not worth it if you're not getting a loyer coustumer in return, or a buyer that could recommend you to other people, so why not give them what you actually promoting and if they are intrested in buying they will buy it regardless. For an instance I bought a new phone by an advertisiment i saw in Instgram promising a good quialty camera but get disppointed when i actually used in real life so i ditched the company and never bought from them again.

Advertising could be the biggest reason a company get their sells in check but with that you have to look at the truthfullness of the marketing. In my opinion doing it in a way of missleading the customer would lead to really bad result at the end.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear negative view of misleading advertising and address why businesses stress novelty, suggesting it attracts attention and encourages purchases. The examples about avoiding online adverts and being disappointed by a phone camera make the response relevant and personal. However, the explanation of why businesses emphasise that products are new remains limited, and the essay largely treats the issue as deliberate false advertising rather than considering truthful claims of innovation or other business motives. Your position is present, but it is not consistently developed: the conclusion repeats that misleading marketing has bad results without drawing together the reasons and effects. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation and a specific example, while distinguishing novelty itself from dishonest claims.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, several body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the phone example gives one paragraph a recognisable focus. However, the overall progression is not always clear: the second and third paragraphs repeat the argument that misleading claims are harmful, while the reasons businesses highlight newness are not organised into distinct points. Some linking phrases, such as “For an instance” and “but with that,” do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. Long sentences also combine several claims, making the line of reasoning harder to follow. Give each body paragraph one central purpose, use clear topic sentences, and connect examples directly to the point they support. This would make the organisation more purposeful and reduce repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “advertising,” “promoting,” “customers,” “marketing campaign” and “misleading,” and you attempt phrases such as “truthfulness” and “generate clicks.” This gives you enough language to communicate the general argument. However, spelling errors are frequent, including “advertisiment,” “missleading,” “quialty” and “Instgram,” and several word choices or collocations are unclear, such as “get their sells in check” and “a new things.” Repetition of “new,” “product” and “misleading” also limits the range. Build a more accurate set of topic phrases and check spelling carefully; using precise terms for innovation, product claims and consumer trust would make your ideas easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with subordinate clauses, for example, “If a company is marketing the product as a new things…” and the sentence beginning “For an instance I bought a new phone…”. These attempts show some willingness to express connected ideas. However, complex sentences are often faulty or run together, and frequent errors in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries can make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “their product is a new,” “some companies lies,” and “a company get their sells.” The phone example also shifts awkwardly between “promising” and “get disappointed.” Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then add one clause at a time. Check subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation before submitting.
